Explore an 1,800-acre Scottish estate and gaze out across magical Loch Fyne when you and your large party escape to this sizeable farmhouse near Kilfinan on the Cowal Peninsula in Argyll. Situated 9 miles from Tighnabruaich, the four-bedroom retreat sleeps eight guests and makes a splendid base for anyone seeking to holiday as a group or celebrate a special occasion in a truly beautiful setting. Lace up your hiking boots and head out into the hills and forests around you. Take your favourite, four-legged friend with you on long country and waterside walks through the area known as Argyll’s Secret Coast.

Tear yourselves away from the views and head into into the generous abode to find it is equipped with everything you and your nearest and dearest need during your Scottish stay. Kick your wellies and boots off in the porch, where there is access to a useful utility room and a WC, and wander on into the kitchen to put the kettle on for a pot of tea. Find you have ample space in here for whipping up hearty Highland feasts for your party and to sit down to big Scottish breakfasts together. For more formal meals, set the table through in the dining room and call everyone to gather round. Spill into the lounge, where there is plenty of comfortable seating for cosy evenings in together and set the wood burner roaring in the autumn and winter months. In the summer, throw open the French doors instead to bring in a fresh country breeze and make the most of the glorious views out towards the sea loch. Play games in here together and find films on the Smart TV that everyone will enjoy. Two of your bedrooms, both twins, are also at ground-floor level, together with the family bathroom. Two super-king-size bedrooms can be found up on the first floor. Both of these capture far-reaching views out towards the loch and have en-suite shower rooms. Take your book and morning coffee out into the courtyard on warm days to enjoy a quiet moment to yourself. Share a bottle of wine out in the pretty, lawned garden on balmy, summer evenings. Call your canine companion to join you on a long walk through the estate before breakfast every day.

Satisfy your need for adventure by rambling through your surroundings at the Otter Estate. Located in the hamlet of Kilfinan, Argyll, this 1800-acre area of historic importance plays host to a mixture of farming and forestry landscapes and is dotted with a number of derelict ghost buildings and the remains of long-lost fishing communities. Spend your evenings admiring the flight of the white-tailed eagles or watch the red squirrels scamper through the woodland.

Tighnabruaich, known as Argyll's Secret Coast, is 9 miles from the cottage and a great place to pick up your ingredients or a souvenir or two. Bordered by the Kyles of Bute and Loch Fyne, this stunning area of uninterrupted beauty has glens, hills and rugged coastline aplenty. Walk along the shores, go wild swimming in the crystal-clear waters or wander through the enchanted woodlands. Alternatively, browse the many shops or pop into the art gallery before sitting down to a well-deserved cup of tea and slice of Scottish shortbread.

For those who are passionate about putting, try the magnificent setting of Kyles of Bute Golf Course for a round of 9 holes and the chance to admire a commanding view across Loch Fyne, Mull of Kintyre and the Island of Bute.

Beachgoers needn't travel far to reach the crescent-shaped shores of Kilbride Bay Beach (11 miles), which is considered one of the best in the region, and we can see why!

We loved Fearnoch Farmhouse and we will be returning. The area is where my family are from so it felt like a home from home. The house is comfortable and has a lovely outside area that looks over the Loch.
