Unwind alongside your favourite people with a retreat to this exquisite countryside property, impeccably styled and set on the grounds of a private estate in the Lake District National Park. Sleeping ten guests across five rooms, plus room for three dogs, this secluded hideaway is ideal for a large family holiday or long-overdue reunion with friends. Pack a picnic and trek the heather-topped hills of Skiddaw (11 miles) to snap a blustery family photo. Back at base, adorn the outdoor table with a celebratory evening spread and dine with a tranquil countryside backdrop.

This immaculate Grade II-listed property is a truly regal country house with vaulted wooden beams, polished wooden textures, earthy tones, and framed oil paintings. Step into the light-dappled lobby and slip off shoes before padding along the hallway into the farmhouse kitchen. Raid the bespoke shaker cabinetry for a post-adventure snack then recline at the island with a glass of vino – the perfect spot to catch up while you cook. On balmy days, prepare a nibbles board and prop open the door to dine alfresco on the terrace. For a more formal feasting affair, gather around the glossy wooden table with sharing plates, good wine, and great company aplenty. Grab a book and escape the chaos in the snug or flick through channels on the Smart TV for an easy watch. Ascend the staircase to discover the magnificent lounge. Stretch out on the sprawling sofas for late-night chats, warm chilly toes by the striking wood burner, or peruse the extensive mezzanine level library. As evening falls, retreat to the comfort of five beautifully appointed bedrooms set across the ground and first floor, two of which boast the privacy of an en-suite. Completing the property are two glorious family bathrooms. Outside, leisure-seekers can perch on the patio with a morning coffee while adventurers explore the 200 acres of woodland. With four private parking spaces available, scenic road trips are definitely on the cards.

We had a wonderful family gathering over Christmas and the facilities were all excellent. Kitchen well equipped and a great place to gather. Suited us having two seating areas as grandsons enjoyed their time in the "snug" while we occupied the "Great Hall" as it came to be known. I, personally, loved the mezzanine floor amongst the eclectic mix of Read morebooks. Various members of the family spent time browsing and reminiscing over books read in the past. One person even read the book on duelling! Hide
