Plan exhilarating walks and climbs through the Cairngorms and tackle the ski slopes of Glenshee when you and your friends or family stay at this group hideaway in Perth and Kinross. Sleeping 12 guests, the attractive, five-bedroom holiday home nestles in lawned gardens, close to the Spittal of Glenshee, where four Scottish glens come together. With mountain and hill views, the lodge, which is 2 miles from Glenshee itself, comes with a fire pit for summer stargazing and a Scandinavian-style wood burner for gathering round after your many winter adventures together. Canine companions are also very welcome to enjoy the fun of your big group Scottish stay.

Open the door to this impressive abode and wander inside to find accommodation that combines comfort with style. Leave your outerwear in the cloakroom or drying room, before wandering on through to the kitchen to dig out the Scottish shortbread and petticoat tails you have bought on your latest excursion and to make a hot drink to warm everyone up after their Highland walk or day on the slopes. Carry your snacks through to the inviting lounge/diner, where you can fire up the wood burner and chat about your activities or settle down in front of the Smart TV together for a spell. You will also find a utility room and family shower room at this level, along with one of your bedrooms, a twin that can be arranged as a king-size instead, if discussed at booking. Follow the spiral staircase up to the first floor of the Scottish lodge to find a relaxing mezzanine area, where you can escape the throng for an hour or so with your holiday novel. Two more twin bedrooms, both also with zip-and-link beds, are on the first floor. These can be made up as king-size beds instead by prior agreement. Another king-size bedroom, with an en-suite shower room, and a family room, with bunk beds and twins that can also be set up as a king-size, are also here, together with a family bathroom. Spread out into the garden on sunny days to play games with the children or your four-legged friends. Dine on the deck and lose yourselves in the views.

For those who love the great outdoors, there is an endless list of activities for you to enjoy or even try for the first time! Known as the 'fairy glen', Glenshee is a magical location from which to enjoy mountain climbing, walking, angling, golfing and photography. Its Ski Centre (12 miles) is one of the most popular in the UK, with no less than 38 amazing skiing and snowboarding runs across three glorious valleys. If you're keen to observe Scottish wildlife, this is one of the places to do it! Herds of roe deer can be seen foraging for food, red squirrels bounce across the landscape, and there is the potential to spot a golden eagle!

During the balmier months, take on the accessible hike of Spittal of Glenshee, beginning at Dalmunzie Castle Hotel (1.5 miles) and finishing 3 miles later at Gulabin Lodge. This route takes you through breathtaking mountain ranges, glens and little rivers and is fabulous for all fitness levels. Enjoy the area's natural beauty from the Dalmunzie Golf Course, one of the highest 9-hole courses in Britain. Even if you have a shoddy round, you'll still adore the views!

For those in the group that love shopping, one of the largest towns in Perthshire, Blairgowrie (19.5 miles), is worth a trip. It's filled with independent shops, boutiques, a museum and plenty of eateries to choose from.
