Open the windows of this unique property and breathe in the sea air of the small town of Wick in the far north of Scotland in the county of Caithness. Sleeping eight across four bedrooms, every room is elegantly furnished with a nod to the local heritage and nature. Whether you are here for a family or friends holiday or a celebration, the warm and welcoming spaces invite you to relax and enjoy time together. Overlooking the North Sea, the town has a fascinating history dating back to the Viking era when it was an important trading post. The town is popular with outdoor enthusiasts, offering numerous walking trails and cycling routes. One of the most prominent landmarks in the town is the Old Pulteney Distillery, which produces some of the finest whisky in Scotland. The distillery is located on the banks of the Wick River and has been in operation since 1826.

Entering the main door of this delightful two-storey cottage takes you through to the spacious traditional period hallway. The lounge is the heart of the home, with light walls and blue hues in the furnishings, and the comfortable sofa and armchairs arc around the wood burner, creating a cosy ambience for chillier nights. Chat while the fire crackles or watch a favourite movie on the Smart TV. The cottage benefits from flexible sleeping arrangements with two downstairs king-size bedrooms and a shower room. The contemporary kitchen has everything you need to cook fabulous meals, and a lovely welcome pack will get you started. Upstairs, you will find two king-size bedrooms, one with an en-suite bathroom and the other with an en-suite shower room. The outside is another lovely space to interact; you can access the patio area via the glass door from the kitchen. Take your morning brew or afternoon tea on the patio and breathe in the fresh air. Storage is available for your bikes, golf clubs, or other sports equipment, and a BBQ is also available for al fresco dining on fine days.

After sampling one of the various magnificent trails of the area, stop for a bite to eat in the nearby town of Wick (1 mile), where visitors can choose from pub grub, fish and chips, French cuisine and much more. While you're here, take a look back at Wick's fascinating history with links to the Viking era in a time when it was an important trading post.

If you prefer escaping to the seaside, then the Caithness coastline is a must-see. Go surfing at Thurso East (21.5 miles), a world-famous reef break, or celebrate the 'end-to-enders' at John o' Groats (17 miles) or Dunnet Head (20 miles). Although less mountainous than the rest of the Highlands, this glorious coastline is known for its rugged beauty and many scenic highlights to explore. You can also pick up the North Coast 500 route from here, which brings together remote fishing villages, white sandy beaches and breathtaking scenery.
