The ground floor is dominated by the vast lounge/kitchen/diner, a naturally lit area with its own jukebox, perfect for family socials, whether that’s relaxing in front of a film, enjoying a fortifying breakfast or watching on expectantly as a three-course dinner is prepared on the stove. A separate, smaller lounge is the go-to for quiet time, while the utility room will be handy when overactive guests on two feet or four paws need to clean up or dry off. Further solace is found at the seating area at the top of the oak staircase, complete with skylights, which leads to the property’s four individually styled, en-suite bedrooms: a king-size bedroom with hill views from its Juliet balcony, two double bedrooms, and a twin bedroom. While tearing the group away from the property will be a challenge, there is so much to explore in the surrounding area. The property sits 500 metres from the centre of Broughton and 2 miles from Cockermouth, both home to numerous dog-friendly amenities. The sand and shingle beach is perfect for a bracing group walk while, for fun on four wheels, there are numerous mountain bike trails in Whinlatter Forest (9.5 miles). There are picturesque walks aplenty around Loweswater (10 miles) or Buttermere (15 miles), while more ardent walkers can conquer the myriad peaks in the northern fells including Great Calva (16 miles). Bassenthwaite Lake (9 miles) is one of the largest in the Lake District and can be admired from both the path running the length of its west shore or from the water.

Beautiful modern house in a great location. The property is perfect for two families or groups of friends as it is so spacious and well equipped. Our teenagers loved the jukebox and games room. Perfect secure garden for dogs and walk straight from the door. We would definitely return.

An ultra modern and a luxurious place to stay. The hosts have thought of everything you could possibly need. Soddy Gap Lodge was beautiful, immaculately clean, great facilities and very spacious. The fact that each bedroom has its own en-suite was a huge bonus. The games room and the jukebox were fabulous. Stayed for a week at this beautiful house. We had such a lovely time, everything was just immaculate with plenty of space and games to keep everyone amused. The owner and family were also on hand to answer any questions or suggest local places to visit. Would highly recommend booking. We would certainly stay here again!
