This dog-friendly cottage, located in an idyllic rural setting 6 miles from Bassenthwaite Lake, comfortably sleeps ten people across five well-appointed bedrooms and is perfect for a large family or group of friends. Situated along a quiet lane on the edge of Torpenhow village, the two-storey cottage enjoys bright and spacious living areas, en-suite facilities, a games room and easy access to the beautiful northern fells that dominate the landscape.

Original features including exposed wooden beams pair up with modern furnishings to create a welcoming and warming ambience throughout the cottage, one to look forward to after a long day exploring the Lake District. Head straight into the light and airy kitchen/diner upon arrival to get essential supplies chilled ahead of a week of lazy brunches and morning coffees around the breakfast table. The indulgent dinners created in the kitchen will be met with approving coos and wows in the formal dining room next door, its wood burner and wooden floor creating an atmosphere as comforting as the food in colder months. Few guests will want to leave the comfort of the lounge during an afternoon snooze or film night, especially when the wood burner, set in the inglenook fireplace complete with the original bread oven, is roaring. If the lounge is a little too noisy, slip into the snug between the kitchen/diner and lounge for some quiet time with a book or gaming binge. If the weather turns while the party is out, remember that a utility/boot room close to the front door is the first port of call for muddy wellies and soaking coats. Take the staircase from the lounge up to the first floor, home to a family bathroom and five bedrooms: three super-king-size bedrooms, two with an en-suite shower room; a twin bedroom; and a bunk room, perfect for younger guests. Hop into the wood-burning Swedish-style hot tub on the decked area in the lawn garden, or head back through the utility room to access the games room for darts and table tennis tournaments.

Bassenthwaite (6 miles) is home to one of the largest bodies of water in the Lake District and offers a plethora of water sports activities in stunning surroundings, not to mention the path that runs the entire length of its western shore. This portion of the Lake District is a walker’s and trail runner’s paradise, with routes for all abilities easily found from Keswick and Cockermouth, the birthplace of the poet William Wordsworth and home to a fantastic selection of dog-friendly shops and eateries (both within 15 miles).

Wonderful spacious cottage ideal for our family gathering. Comfy beds, spotlessly clean, lovely garden & peaceful location. Large dining table was great for sociable meals and games whilst hot tub and games barn were a big hit. Appreciated log burners, on-site log supply and large utility room with dog supplies. Would definitely recommend.

Really great house for a get together, the bedrooms are look brand new and very well maintained. Very easy to find and we fitted three cars easily on the driveway. The information book in the house is a great touch and was very helpful. Had a very relaxing weekend with the girls celebrating a 60 th and 70th birthday. The house was well equipped and felt homely. We arranged an online shop to be delivered which was a good idea, plus we had a mobile beautician come to the house to give us massages and facials. A great time was had by all and we will go back again.
