Three king-size bedrooms, one of which can be made up as twin beds on request, and a twin room make it easy for families or groups of friends to find the perfect spot to lay their head. But before you head to bed, throw open the fabulous bi-folding doors to the garden and indulge in an al fresco evening tipple.

Step into the property and into the bright and airy hallway where a downstairs WC has space to store coats. Head straight down to the superb open-plan kitchen diner where you’ll find everything you need to cook up a storm in the contemporary kitchen; the large dining table is the perfect spot to enjoy sociable meals and get planning for tomorrow’s adventures. Spend the evening playing board games or watching TV in the lounge, or escape for a moment and curl up with a book in the snug surrounded by calming, neutral decor. Upstairs, the fabulous main bedroom awaits; open the double doors to the Juliet balcony on sunny mornings while the other half takes a refreshing shower in the spa-like en-suite. Take in the countryside views from the peacefully-decorated king-size zip-and-link and twin bedrooms; the final king-size room has clean, tranquil tones. Take the kids to Hunsonby Swimming Club (0.5 miles), a fantastic heated outdoor swimming pool open May – September, or take them to Winskill’s wonderful play park just across the road from the property to let off some steam. South Tynedale Railway (13.5 miles) offers a fantastic family day out where even the four-legged members of your group can join you, or take to the water and hop aboard the Ullswater Steamers (19.5 miles) for a leisurely trip on one of the Lake District’s most famous lakes. Stop at Aira Force (18.5 miles by car) for a glimpse of this breathtaking waterfall. If you’re here for the walks, you’ve got to try one of the looped walks to Long Meg and Her Daughters (2 miles) or the 7.5-mile Knock Fell loop that starts in Long Marton (9 miles) and takes you along the Pennine Way through superb countryside.

This is a fabulous property in a lovely village. It was an ideal location for us for a family get together as it was halfway between the Midlands and Central Scotland. The property is very new. Its warm and comfortable and has everything you might need. It is spotlessly clean and the beds are really comfortable. Lovely owners really nice and friendly on hand if you need anything . The house is spacious and has a lovely big kitchen where we all congregated when we were in the property. Location is central to visit various places in the lakes . I stayed at the cottage with My wife and 6 children and we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and the kids keep asking to go back! we will definitely be booking again. The cottage was so cosy and warm and the cleanest holiday home we have stayed in. The owners were great and so lovely to deal with. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

This was our BEST HOLIDAY ACOMODATION. The location and scenery is superb, like living in a different planet surrounded by NATURE. The cottage was so clean and spacious full of sunlight and modern. Xmas break, we stayed for one week from 22nd Dec. What a beautiful setting. The house is overlooking the farmers fields , with a view of the Pennines. Crossfell Retreat is a beautiful house in an even more beautiful setting. We had an amazing weekend and couldn't fault anything. It was immaculate on arrival and the welcome wine, crisps and biscuits were an added bonus. The house was perfect for a family weekend, with different generations coming from different parts of the UK. It was spacious, comfortable and well equipped, and had everything we needed. The area is lovely, we ate at the Shepherd's Inn in Langwathby (which we would definitely recommend) and enjoyed visiting the surrounding area. Beautiful luxury home with everything you need there. Had a week with family and 3 small children, we had the best time! Kids played for hours in the garden and park which is 2 minute walk away, also the outdoor pool close by which is amazing, (although wouldnt recommend on a cold day). We loved our stay at Crossfell Retreat it is a home away from home, everything provided that you may need, and a fully equipped kitchen. Beautiful views, very relaxing place to stay with lots of lovely days out only a few miles away. We wished we had booked for longer. We will definitely be back.

Great location, beautiful house and perfect views. We stayed as a family of 8 and enjoyed every second. The grandkids were safe in the enclosed garden, so were the dogs. The house layout is really good so if you just wanted ten minutes on your own, theres plenty of space to do so. Fantastic property had absolutely everything we needed and was immaculate.Excellent for dog owners as the garden was completely fenced in so no worries about letting them out.Stunning countryside and beautiful views,would highly recommend.
