Immerse yourselves in the spectacular, natural beauty of the Lake District when you stay at this sumptuous, period retreat near Millbeck, 3 miles from Keswick. Sleeping 12 guests, the stylish, six-bedroom house dates back to the 1930s and could be the perfect place to spend quality time with one or two other families or with a party of couples. Exquisitely finished in a boutique hotel style and with stunning views, it nestles in 4 acres of gorgeous gardens and is well located for Derwentwater.

Imagine yourself stepping into an Agatha Christie novel when you enter this enchanting holiday home, which has been carefully furnished with Art Deco pieces to complement original features such as the beautiful staircase. Head through to the lounge, with its two separate seating areas to ensure there is ample room for everyone to take in the views. Light the wood burner in here and play a game of charades or catch up on an old episode of Miss Marple on the TV. A snug, with another wood burner and Smart TV, makes a cosy hideaway for members of your party seeking peace and quiet. Take turns preparing hearty feasts for your friends and family in the lovely kitchen, which has an Aga and adjoins the dining room, where you can all gather around the table. All the bedrooms can be found on the first floor of the house. These include two super-king-size, both with en-suite shower rooms and zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as singles if discussed in advance, and four king-size, one with a four-poster bed and another with a balcony and en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom, with a gorgeous 1930s bath, and a family shower room up here. Set the table outside for all 12 of you to dine in the sunshine and absorb the far-reaching views on warm days. Light the outdoor wood burner as the sun sets and chat together long into the summer night. There is parking here for four cars.
