If you like a mix of contemporary design within an Elizabethan period farmhouse retaining numerous original features, then this Cumbrian house is perfect for you and your large group.

This large Lake District property has plenty of space yet has many finishing touches to keep the house homely. It has five bedrooms to accommodate ten people, so a big get-together is a breeze. Its quiet setting allows you to either party the night away or simply have a break in peace, with no interruptions. Spend time admiring the views from the beautiful gardens or cosy up next to the wood burners indoors.

The property’s vast space starts from its entrance which has room enough for any outdoor gear like muddy wellies. You’ll find a handy WC here too, or you can take a door to the big open-plan living area. This space is bright and light thanks to a fantastic feature window that has seating, perfect for catching up with a good book whilst admiring the views. It looks out over the garden, while the kitchen and dining space is exceptionally stylish. It has bespoke Shaker-style units, under beamed ceilings, with a large farmhouse-style dining table. The kitchen has all you need for an easy self-catering holiday, even if every single bedroom is full. Plus, you can keep laundry out of the way in the handy utility area just off the kitchen. Should you need it, there’s an additional sitting room which has dual-aspect windows and a huge wood burner. To get to the master suite which is set in one of the oldest parts of the property, you go up a private staircase to the first floor. Despite its age and the presence of period features, it has been brought up to date with plush, soft furnishings and a neutral colour scheme. It has a king-size bed and en-suite bathroom. The other rooms are accessed via the wooden staircase from the main living area. One bedroom benefits from Lakeland fell views and has a king-size bed. The next is a twin with more countryside vistas. There is one more twin bedroom in the property and another king-size too. These rooms share the elegant family bathroom. Outside, the property has a large, mature garden. You can relax here using the tables and chairs while looking out at the panoramic views. There’s even a herb garden to help add flavour to any meal.

A lovely old property beautifully decorated, comfortable and cosy. Plenty of space for our party of six adults and four children. Just be aware that the access track is very rough in places so drive with care, particularly at night.

This is a superb farmhouse property for larger family gatherings. Really lovely cottage, beautifully decorated and in such a superb location - we had a fantastic weekend away as a party of 10! Definitely take your time on the narrow lane up to the house, slightly off-road conditions! Would absolutely stay again, it was a pleasure - the welcome basket and goodies was also a kind touch.

Cost cottage, we stayed as a group of 8 friends. The kitchen/lounge areas are lovely and the beds were very comfortable. It's a very old house as you can see this in the houses special features, this does make it a bit creaky and floors-uneven at times but it adds to the character.
