Wake up to picturesque, rural views when you stay at this light-filled holiday home in Devon. Situated in the verdant countryside, about 0.5 miles from High Bickington, the single-storey former barn sleeps eight guests and is also happy to accommodate a duo of delighted dogs. From here, step straight out to enjoy country walks and explore the 90 acres of leafy woodland in which this holiday retreat nestles. Pick up the Tarka Trail, a traffic-free walking and cycling route in East Torrington, 7.5 miles away, and enjoy days out at the beach at Westward Ho! about 15 miles from the property. Return from your adventures to light the wood burner during the colder months or to bask out in the sunshine of the lawned garden during warmer weather, gazing out over the countryside as the sun sets over the fields.

Arrive at the property, unload your luggage, greet your family and friends, and wander inside to find accommodation that has been carefully designed with your holiday in mind. Discover space to leave footwear and coats in the hall, then make your way through to the open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner to spread out, relax and start enjoying your time away as a group. Light a fire in the wood burner if you wish, find a movie on the Smart TV, and discuss how you intend to spend your precious time away together. When mealtimes beckon, make your way to the kitchen to prepare hearty holiday fare for your party. Discover there is a dishwasher, so no one has to roll their sleeves up. Find you also have a washing machine and a tumble dryer in the utility room. When bedtime arrives, choose between the three double bedrooms, and the super-king-size with zip-and-link beds that can be set up as twins if discussed in advance, and which also has an en-suite shower. Each bedroom has its own Smart TV. There is also a family bathroom. Wander out into the glorious Devon sunshine during your stay. Light the charcoal BBQ and sip a pre-dinner drink as it heats up. Arrange days out to beautiful Exmoor National Park, which begins about 14 miles away, and where you can walk, cycle and horse ride. Visit charming Appledore, 15 miles away, with its delightful independent shops, galleries and eateries, and ferry over to Instow in the high season. Visit RHS Garden Rosemoor, 8.5 miles from the house; spend time at Halsdon Nature Reserve, 7.5 miles away, or play golf at Libbaton, just under 2 miles away. Treat the children to a day out at the Big Sheep amusement farm park, 13 miles from the barn, with its rides, animals and live shows.

Beautiful location. Cottage well equipped, with an open plan loving area which is ideal for families and socialising. We will definitely be returning. Cannot praise enough.

This lodge is very modern and well equipped and situated in wonderful countryside with beautiful views. The garden with a easily accessible tree house with seats and lighting was excellent as was the attached paddock which you have exclusive use of was great for ballgames with the kids. Absolutly gorgeous property in an even more beautiful place. There was everything we could of needed beautiful log burner and outdoor fire pits. The raised seating or tree house outside has the most picturesque view. The field next door for the dogs to run about in. plenty of garden games. We saw the sheep being herded in by a collie at night. We fRead moreound the indoor games aswell for the evenings. We ventured out to some lovely pubs about 10min drive away. Very well converted farm building, with plenty of space and equipment for 6 adults and 2 children. Only let out since 2022 so everything in good condition. Bonus having so much outside space and equipment. Owner very helpful.

A really lovely place to stay, 4 double bedrooms and each one is fantastic. The whole place is warm, cosy and fantastically well equipped. The raised decking area was lovely with the chiminea, a great place to sit out till late. The attached paddock area was great for the dog and playing sports, a great addition. Just got back from a wonderful stay we were a group of 6 adults 3yr old and 9month old everything we needed was there plenty of space for us all very clean and beautiful views and lots of places to visit nearby we didnt take our dogs but would be a great place to return with them would recommend booking right away

Wootton Lodge was perfect for our stay (4 adults, a 2y.o & 2 dogs). The garden is secure for dogs, extra paddock provides ample space outdoors. Inside its spacious, extremely clean and modern, had everything we needed (& more!). Tom checked in to ensure we had arrived ok and had everything we needed for week. Would happily return & recommend!

Its in a great place for visiting the area. Its not overlooked and our noisey dog wasnt able to upset anyone. The views are lovely and the outside space is great. The whole family had a great time.

What a great place. The treehouse was fantastic for the adults in the evening and the kids loved the beautiful garden and seeing the sheep in the field. We really had a fantastic stay. Cottage was clean, well equipped and comfortable. Tom was super friendly and contactable. Would absolutely stay again and have already recommended to family.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely location, well equipped and clean and tidy. The garden was excellent for our dog completely enclosed. Lots of places to visit and lots of places to walk the dog. Enjoyed visiting the animals on the farm, even got to feed the lambs. Very friendly helpful owners.

Very disappointed with the kitchen diner set up. 8 breakfast stools sounds good but in reality it is impossible to have 8 people seated at the breakfast bar. Picture of dining table looks good but it has to be moved into the centre of kitchen/diner in order to use it.

We stayed at Wootton Lodge for Christmas 2023 with 4 adults, 3 x 4 year olds and our dog. Its a lovely property which appears recently refurbished inside. The living space was perfect for the numbers of adults & children we had in our party - the garden in particular was a fantastic size with beautiful views (& wonderful dark skies - Ive never seenRead more so many stars!) The property was lovely & warm during our stay with ample hot water for us all and also a log burner. Would certainly recommend! Hide
