Excellent cottage - well equipped and very comfortable. The log fire was most welcome. Rossthwaite is a lovely hamlet in Borrowdale. Lots of lovely walks including the impressive Cat Bells. A great time had by all.

Fabulous location, many and varied walks from the door. A comfortable house, spacious downstairs (but v small kitchen) bedrooms are small too, apart from the KS, which has a rather soft bed. Lovely outside table for dining, quite private, but was marred a little bit by the other properties all having dogs with them (we didnt) and allowing them freeRead more access to the shared lawn, especially first thing in the morning, and unfortunately not always clearing up the inevitable mess! Plenty of space, peaceful, and you can start walks right out the door. Our group of 7 from 11-75 really enjoyed our week. Clean, well-equiped kitchen, comfortable beds. Bathrooms are as follows: upstairs 2 toilets, a shower, and a shower/tub. Downstairs 1 toilet. Plenty to go around. All bedrooms are upstairs.

Perfect location for hiking w many trails nearby and spectacular scenery. Great cottage for cooking together and spending time in front of the fire. Covered outdoor area by door makes it easy to deal with muddy boots, wet gear and dog. It was disappointing however to find there aren't even basic kitchen provisions like salt and pepper, or any wood Read moreeven for first night. Also, 2 of the pubs mentioned on the website are closed Nov to Feb and the 3rd is not open to non-residents. Hide

A great property with superb views from every room! Also useful for the bus stop to be right by the cottage, which gave us an easy option for a non circular walk.

Rose cottage was ideal for our family wedding in the village, providing good space for 8 of us. The king size mattress is very uncomfortable and the provision of toiletries, toilet paper and mirrors in the bedrooms very poor. But well equipped with fridges, freezer and washing machine plus plenty of seating, crockery, etc. It is well located for LaRead morekeland walks and wild swimming. We had some lovely meals at Yew Tree pub and The Royal Oak. Hide
