Boasting a pretty garden and hot tub, this wonderful property provides the ideal base for family and friends to come together and explore the surrounding countryside.

Soak in a steaming hot tub at this inviting, stone, holiday home at Cowling in North Yorkshire after exploring the surrounding area with your nearest and dearest. With four bedrooms, this property sleeps up to eight guests and also welcomes up to three very happy hounds. The former farmhouse is situated in superb countryside and has the benefit of access to a shared field for anyone who enjoys the great outdoors. It is also well positioned for forays out into the Yorkshire Dales National Park and the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is just 7.5 miles from the charming town of Skipton, with its castle, priory and many independent shops, pubs and restaurants.

Pull up at this welcoming, Yorkshire property and wander into the farmhouse-style kitchen/diner. Put the kettle on for a cup of tea to enjoy with the tasty Yorkshire parkin you have bought from a nearby bakery and pause at the table for a while with the TV on. Prepare dinner in here too and then lay the table so everyone can gather round. After dinner, wander through to the lounge, which also has exposed timbers. Light the wood burner in the stone fireplace, play a game or perhaps find something for everyone to enjoy together on the TV/DVD, which comes with Sky TV. Also at ground-floor level, are a family shower room and a separate WC, plus a sunroom, where you can read quietly or take in the views, and a twin bedroom. Make your way up to the floor above to discover another twin room, a double bedroom and a super-king-size room, with an en-suite shower room. There is also a family bathroom, which has a gorgeous slipper bath. Spill out into the enclosed garden on sunny spring and summer days. Fire up the hot tub out here until 10.30pm, light the BBQ and gaze up at the night skies as darkness falls and you enjoy the heat from the gas-fired fire pit. Keep an eye on children and dogs near the unfenced pond and watch them as they chase about and play in the shared field. Find plenty of parking at the house, as well as racks for your cycles.

Those with a love of the outdoors will quickly fall for the Craven District and all its brilliance thanks to the glorious scenery, charming market towns and sleepy villages scattered throughout this captivating blend of outcrops, green hills and rugged moorland. It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (14.5 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit.

The historic town of Skipton (8 miles) is also close by and offers a host of other attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options to eat here as well as independent shops making it a great option for a full day out. Other nearby attractions include the Kilnsey Trout Farm and horse riding at Coniston, Malham.

Settle 23 miles away is a well-loved and bustling market town home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday - the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the marketplace, so you can choose which one to try each evening!

Just outside of town, you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK which will take you over the well-known Ribblehead Viaduct. Beyond Settle, you have the exquisite delights of the Yorkshire Dales. And, as you would expect, the surrounding countryside here is magnificent, perfect if you want to strike out from the cottage in your walking boots or on your bicycle.

Keighley is a must for any railway enthusiast too - located just 8 miles away, it is the terminus of the Keighley and Worth Valley heritage steam railway. Running between the village itself to Oxenhope across the beautiful Worth Valley, the line is most famous for its pivotal role in the beloved 1970s classic The Railway Children and, more recently, Sherlock. The Timothy Taylor Brewery is also located nearby in Knowle Spring, 8 miles.
