Situated 3 miles from Campbeltown and 5.5 miles from Machrihanish, the unique holiday home sleeps up to 13 guests within colourful, historic surroundings. Set in eight acres of its own grounds, the seven-bedroom property also welcomes up to four happy hounds, who will enjoy exploring the beautiful woodland with you. Spend your days walking, playing golf and even surfing from beautiful beaches with members of your party. Return home to play in the games room or relax beside a roaring open fire.

Spoil yourselves with a touch of the noble life, when you open the door on to this Scottish castle. Host celebrations and mark special occasions in the elegant dining room, where you can also light the open fire and play music though Bluetooth soundbar. Make your way through to the impressive lounge afterwards to relax in front of yet another crackling open fire or to find a film for everyone to watch together on the Smart TV. On warm days, open the French doors in here so people can step out into the fresh air. Also at this level, are two WCs and the games room, where you can challenge each other to tournaments. Make your way down to the lower ground floor to prepare hearty feasts in the kitchen/diner, where you can choose to sit at the table or central island. There is also a utility room down here. Follow the spiral staircase up to the first floor to discover a twin bedroom and two four-poster doubles, with Jack and Jill bathrooms connecting to the hall. On the floor above, there are two more double rooms, plus a single and a twin. The family bathroom is also up here. Set in wonderfully secluded and idyllic surroundings, the castle is within easy reach of the bustling harbour town of Campbeltown (3 miles) where you will find an array of great independent shops, supermarkets, pubs and restaurants. The town is also home to three major distilleries, the Campbeltown Heritage Centre, Dalintober Beach and the Linda McCartney Memorial Garden.

Heading to the west of the peninsula you will come to the thriving coastal village of Machrihanish (5.5 miles), home of the internationally famous Machrihanish Golf Club and the superb Machrihanish Seabird/Wildlife Observatory where you can spot rare birds including Balearic shearwaters and Leach’s petrels. This breathtaking part of the Kintyre Peninsula can be accessed by road, plane or ferry, and is known for its unspoiled beauty, splendid long white sandy beaches and abundant wildlife. The peninsula is an ideal destination for golfers, cyclists, nature lovers, water sports enthusiasts and walkers following the Kintyre Way.

Other local attractions include Westport Beach – a popular surfing spot (8 miles), Tangy Mill (10 miles), Lussa Loch (10.5 miles), Smerby Castle (6 miles), Dunaverty Rock and St Columba’s Chapel, Footprints and Holy Well (both 8.5 miles). You can also take a ferry or boat trip out to explore islands including Gigha, Arran, Islay and Jura.

Beautiful,stunning, magnificent,loads of space,rooms and the gardens are just magical I just wish we had a stair gate to block the dogs from going up to the bedrooms. Took some time when trying to find kitchen ware as there is so many cupboards had a fantastic week

Absolutely fabulous, all the family thoroughly enjoyed their stay. So much space and the hot tub was a bonus. There was everything and more that you could think of in the castle Lovely owners and Iain and Jamie were stars. Kilchrist Castle was superb holiday accommodation for our large family gathering - 13 in all, so we fitted in perfectly. Everything was very comfortable and well equipped. This place is AMAZING! Our international group of 9 had the best experience possible here. One clarification, one of the rooms with 2 singles is accessed through one of the main rooms. I either missed that information or it wasn't clear in the description. It had zero effect on my party, but thought it could others. Stunning property, a wonderful venue for a large family gathering. Perfectly set up for dogs too. The decor and furnishings are superb, feeling both exclusive and yet homely and comfortable. Came down with all the family for a week away, and everyone had such a great time. Lovely spacious rooms and grounds which made us feel like royalty. The castle was well equipped for large groups and we would highly recommend.

The pictures don't do it justice. A really lovely place which has been tastefully renovated and is both comfortable and stylish. Kintyre is beautiful and we really enjoyed our stay
