Occupying a wing of a unique private castle, this is a wonderful, elegant retreat for a family or a group of friends looking for a peaceful getaway. Ideal for a special family occasion, the castle is set on a stunning estate and has been owned by the same family for over 700 years. Members of the family would be delighted to give you a private tour of the castle and estate, with opportunities to discover the family’s private collection of historical artefacts and hear some fascinating stories about the property’s history. Situated over three floors, and sleeping 16 guests across six beautiful bedrooms, this is a sumptuous holiday base perfect for exploring the glorious Ayrshire coast and countryside.

With two ovens, dishwashers and fridge/freezers, the attractively designed kitchen is fully equipped for preparing a celebratory meal for the whole party which you can enjoy in the impressive dining room which comfortably seats 16 guests. Beneath the castle’s staircase is a ground-floor den with a choice of books and a multi-purpose games table so you can play pool, table football or air hockey. The spacious drawing room is on the first floor and features large windows, an open fire set in a marble fireplace, historic paintings and plenty of seating so you can relax and enjoy a film or music. The first floor offers four delightfully decorated en-suite bedrooms: a zip-and-link double; a large room has a Four-poster bed and a pretty stained-glass window; a super-king-size room is located at the end of its own private corridor halfway up the stairs and features a wood burner, a roll-top bath set in a private window recess, and stunning views. A split-level bedroom has a super-king-size zip-and-link bed, two sofa beds, stained-glass windows, and a cast-iron spiral staircase. A spiral staircase leads up to the two beautifully decorated bedrooms on the second and third floors. The estate offers some 600 acres for you to roam, or you could sit back and relax with a BBQ or a glass of wine in the evening. Wellington boots and a buggy/pushchair are provided for you to explore the grounds.

We spent a wonderful time for a family reunion in the castle. Most rooms are very spacious with high ceilings, historical paintings and a wonderful view into the surrounding lawn and woods. The kitchen is fully equipped to cook for 16 people which we often did. Every room has its specific character, distinctive colour and wallpaper design, and manyRead more nooks and cupboards with a hidden toilet in them to discover! The dense and old forest around the house is perfect for a morning stroll. Beautiful! Hide
