Fifehead Neville is a peaceful hamlet offering a slice of idyllic rural living yet within easy reach of great amenities and attractions. The nearby market town of Sturminster Newton is well-serviced by a choice of pubs and independent shops selling both essential and artisanal supplies. Lovers of nature can explore the extensive grounds, frequented by an array of wildlife, including woodpeckers and nightingales, or visit some of the many local beauty spots within easy reach. To the South is the stunning Jurassic coastline, home to some of Dorset’s most photographed landmarks, such as Durdle Door and Ringstead Bay. Or perhaps stretch your legs with a hike up Bulbarrow Hill, where you will find panoramic views over rolling countryside.

The private gravel driveway leads directly to the main entrance into this detached property. Once inside you are met with a welcoming hallway leading firstly to a stunning open-plan kitchen/diner on the right via two steps. With warm wood flooring, numerous places to sit, and a lovely homely ambiance, this well-equipped space with a traditional AGA is the ideal central meeting point for family suppers. Leading on from this room via a small set of steps is a generous utility room, with a walk-in pantry, this is the ideal spot for cleaning down your four-legged friends after long walks in the countryside. Heading back into the hallway brings you to a cosy snug, with a study area, wood burner, and a TV/DVD, perfect for spending a lazy evening watching your favourite show. Next is the lounge, which really shows off the character of this traditional Dorset longhouse. There is a wonderful inglenook fireplace, complete with an open fire and a deep sill that invites you to rest a while with a good book. A door leads from here up a winding set of cottage-style stairs to a king-size bedroom set into the eaves, there are characterful beams and an en-suite bathroom. Heading back downstairs and into the central hallway you will find a second set of stairs, leading to a choice of bedrooms. To the left is a super-king-size bedroom with an en-suite bathroom, and next door is a pretty double bedroom with a light and bright ambiance. Two single beds are tucked into the large landing and can provide additional sleeping space on request. To the right of the stairs there are two further lovely double bedrooms and a contemporary bathroom. Due to the age of the property, there are numerous changes in levels, beams and some areas of restricted head height, which only adds to its charm.

Stepping outside from the kitchen/diner you will find a patio area with furniture immediately to the rear of the property, where you can light the gas BBQ and cook up a storm. An area of lawn and established flower beds and shrubs lead on from here to the kitchen garden, where you can pick some seasonal delights. The area immediately to the rear of the cottage is fully enclosed. Should you choose to explore the wider grounds beyond the cottage itself you will find an expansive space complete with many separate areas, including a large unenclosed pond (care to be taken with children and ensure they are accompanied at all times), generous rolling lawns, and many lovely spots to sit with a good book or picnic. With six acres to explore and resident guinea fowl, hens, and a peacock for company, you are sure to unwind in this truly idyllic spot. A stable yard and games space complete with table tennis is located to the side of the cottage. The cottage is set beside the owners' office and housekeeper's cottage, however your privacy is assured. To the front of the property is a further cottage garden leading to an off-road parking area. Due to the expansive nature of the grounds, a gardener is in attendance weekly.

We had the most fantastic stay at Rose Cottage. The animals were a favourite by all of our party, there were plenty of equipment for everyone. We especially loved the games and books which were available. Fire supplies were great and we had a fire each evening. You definitely need to have a car as there are no other options for getting about. The rRead moreooms were all large and comfortable, the 2 extra beds on the landing were also really helpful. Hide

We had a wonderful stay at Rose Farm for Christmas 2023. The cottage is beautiful, with a lovely open fire in an absolutely comfortable room, with a log burner in the drawing room where the TV is. The open plan kitchen and dining area is the hub of activity where family congregated while a couple of us were prepping the meals. You also have visitorRead mores in the mornings from peacock and guinea fowls at the door. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable with two of them en suite. Thank you Hide

This is a fantastic house for a holiday in the most beautiful Dorset countryside. The kitchen/living room is a marvellous space to hang out in. We enjoyed lunch in the garden and wandering around the huge outdoor spaces. Beds were comfortable, though some found the doubles a bit small. The children enjoyed sleeping on the mezzanine. The cooker is rRead moreather small for cooking for 10, and we were disappointed that the Aga wasn't functioning as we needed that extra cooking facility. All in all, great! Hide
