A fabulous one-level coastal retreat on the unspoilt Coigach peninsula ideal for families seeking a relaxing holiday walking, fishing and wildlife-spotting.

This stunning property, surrounded by water on three sides, is ideal for a big getaway to the Scottish Highlands for both families and groups of friends. Sleeping eight across four comfortable bedrooms, there’s room for everyone to relax and unwind in this beautiful seaside cottage. Spend lazy days absorbing the sheer beauty of your secluded surroundings, before enjoying the evenings catching up with relatives or pals safe in the knowledge that you’ll not disturb anyone – except maybe some snoozing wildlife! A truly eco-friendly cottage, heating and hot water is supplied by an air source heat pump and eco-paint and reclaimed wood features around the house; the owners would love it if you could do your best to bring eco-friendly products with you to support the rehabilitation of Reiff Loch. Your total seclusion doesn’t mean you have to do without amenities; the nearest pub is 2.5 miles away in Altandhu, while a shop for essentials is 6 miles away in Achiltibuie.

From the moment you step into the property, you’re welcomed by bright and airy rooms with a perfect blend of Scottish and coastal touches. Head into the sun-filled lounge where some chairs are set up by the huge window for you to admire the superb views, or curl up on the sofa in front of the fire in the evening after a day filled with walking the coastal paths, fishing or even kayaking. When it’s time for bed, head to one of the peaceful rooms that each have their own colour scheme and individual style. Wake up refreshed and head to the garden to enjoy your morning coffee with mountain views, watching the kids play in the play area before you’ve even had time to give them breakfast! Sizzle up a BBQ out here on the fire pit in the summer, star gazing when the sun goes down.

There is plenty to do in the area, despite your wonderfully quiet location; if you and your group love the outdoors, this is the place for you. The Summer Isles, which is a group of around 20 islands, rocks and skerries, are ideal for walking and hiking. The closest, Isle Ristol (4 miles), has a long white sandy beach and you can walk there in lower tides. If fishing’s your thing, buy an angling permit and fish at the fresh water lochs around Achiltibuie which hold wild brown trout, sea trout, salmon and artic char. The self-guided Coigach Geotrail takes you on a series of geological excursions around the peninsula while you learn about the oldest rocks in Britain and evidence of a massive asteroid impact. Start from Reiff and make your way down to Achduart (10 miles) over the course of a morning.

Magnificent location. Beautiful views. Wonderful place for a peaceful holiday. The cottage does need updating.

Great location for wildlife and very quiet (it's certainly off the beaten track). Great views from the property too! The property is spacious but in need of renovation. There is no tumble dryer so drying clothes and towels is a challenge and the heating controls are locked by the owner for environmental reasons (can be changed on request only). TheRead morere are a lot of personal effects around the property which some may enjoy seeing but others who wish for a more "neutral" space may find off-putting. Hide
