Built in 1827 this former farm labourer’s cottage has been lovingly updated to provide a fantastic holiday home set in a secluded and breathtaking location close to the beautiful coast of Dorset.

This fantastic property, set in a secluded location close to the village of Worth Matravers (0.5 miles), is perfect for a big getaway to the Purbeck Hills for families and groups of friends alike. Sleeping ten across five bright and welcoming bedrooms with two cosy lounges, there's room for everyone to find their own corner. Plus, the huge garden offers kids lots to explore, while the grown-ups can enjoy a relaxing evening around the fire pit after a tasty meal cooked on the pizza oven. Take a walk up to the village pub (0.5 miles) for a pint and one of their renowned pies after a day at the beach at Swanage (4.5 miles).

Leave your coats and boots in the hallway and head down a couple of steps into the beautiful accommodation which mixes the traditional and contemporary perfectly – just mind the different levels and internal steps. Head into the sun-filled lounge and enjoy fabulous garden views from the sofas – here, stunning bi-folding doors lead to a pretty patio with enough seating for everybody as well as a lawn area that's ideal for garden games. If you prefer the peace and quiet, pop into the snug on the lower ground floor and curl up in front of the wood burner on one of the comfy sofas with a good book and a cup of tea. The chefs among you will revel in the stylish kitchen with a high vaulted ceiling and oak floors; cook up a storm for your guests and serve it in the pretty dining area that looks out onto the garden, or dine alfresco on warm summer evenings. And the breakfast bar will soon become the place to pick up a snack before heading out for a day of exploration. At bedtime, you'll be fighting over your favourite room with your friends; one of the ground floor en-suite double bedrooms has French doors to the terrace, the ideal spot for your morning coffee, while the upstairs bedrooms boast a nautical theme and charming window seats.

I rented the cottage for a group of friends and we couldnt have picked a better cottage. Its spacious, clean with all mod cons and great outdoor areas. Lovely place, really enjoyed our stay. A lot of time and love has gone into creating a beautiful holiday home with lots of attention to detail. Welcome hamper a really nice touch. Quiet rural location. Outside entertaining space with the pizza oven and BBQ area was amazing....we'll need to come back in the summer to try it out!

The house was great, ample facilities and in a good location with plenty of outdoor space. A great time was had by all the family with nearby beaches, walks and amenities. Couldn't ask for a better, smiley holiday. Would definitely stay here again.

A lovely spacious property, with plenty of room for our party of 10 ranging from 76 to 6 years old. Lots of space for the children to enjoy, we had some wonderful pizzas using the oven, but because of the dry weather we did not use the barbecue or the fire pit. Fabulous skies, with wonderful star gazing and it was great to be there to see the SturgRead moreeon moon at its peak. Lovely to be able to pick early blackberries in the field. The shop in the village may be small but is welcoming, fab ice creams Hide

We had a lovely time in this spacious, well equipped house. The large garden and field were great for the kids to play in. The pizza oven was very popular, and helpful that wood was supplied. Excellent well equipped accommodation. Stunning location on the edge of a picturesque village with easy access to the coastal path and village centre. Wifi was great and SKY TV was a real bonus. A fantastic cottage that is beautifully decorated and feels really homely. The open plan means its great for large groups. The garden is is lovely and has a great out door table for socialising. The village is very picturesque too and walking distance. We stayed there whilst taking part in a 26 mile charity walk along the Jurassic coast and the sceRead morenery was stunning. A lovely cottage in a sweet village. We had a big family gathering of varying ages, and chose the cottages for its facilities. However the cottage information needs to be updated as do the dining chairs that were really unusable. No trampoline available. Plenty of room inside and in the grounds.

Great week spent in a fantastic location. We were fortunate with the weather and took advantage of the Square and Compass close by. Lovely property with plenty of space for 8 adults. Well equipped and presented. We didn't use it but the outside dining table and pizza oven is to die for!...

Wonderful family holiday with three generations ranging from age 2 to 73. Ideal accommodation with lots of country and coastal walks. Sandy beaches at Swanage and Sandbanks. Rustic pub in the village selling great beers. All in all a great holiday topped off with fine weather.

A wonderful cottage in a wonderful location! So many beautiful places to visit - far too many to experience in one week! Great walks and beaches within easy reach. The property (in particular, the kitchen) was very well equipped but would be useful to have a vacuum cleaner. There were a few minor housekeeping issues - all of which were dealt with qRead moreuickly either through the maintenance company or Google! Only drawback was the absence of an outside recycling bin.
