Step through the stone porch and double doors into the elegant entrance hall with original parquet flooring. On the ground floor, you will find the games room/pub with open fire, small kitchenette and a large bar for relaxed evenings. Stairs lead to the first-floor south wing. The large kitchen is fully equipped to cater for large parties with duplicate range-cookers, three dishwashers and two American-style fridge/freezers. Lace-up your walking boots for a hike through the Derwent Gorge and along the Derwent River. Everyone had their own room and ensuite and the communal spaces were great - big enough for us all to get together. Wonderful house in a prominent gorgeous location. There were a few minor issues with the hot tub, karaoke machine, microwave oven and water temperature. But on the whole the house met our needs, was in a stunning location and everyone (29 of us) enjoyed our stay. Lots of space so it didn't feel cramped at all.

This property is in a fantastic location and very handy for the Peak District. The property itself is lovely, the lounge and garden have fabulous views and the kitchen is well equipped. Sadly, there were a few issues and reading previous reviews, these were not the first; the shower pressure / heat is not consistent and in some rooms non-existent. We were a large family group of 28, aged from 2 weeks to 90 years. The property and facilities were amazing for our weekend stay. Communal rooms were large and spacious, bedrooms were well equipped and comfortable, bathrooms were modern and clean. The kitchen and equipment in there was large enough to cook for and feed an army. Beds- mattresses very uncomfortable, the twins not zipped together, room 3 extremely low. Wonderful weekend with a full house of family and friends for my "80th" birthday. Everything we needed in the property, plus wonderful views, lovely walks and amenities close by. Can recommend the Fish Pond inn at the bottom of the hill, great food.

We had a great Christmas week, with twenty-seven of us the house worked perfectly. The place was spotlessly clean, with great ensuite bedrooms and communal areas. The two hot tubs were a real bonus. Would stay again and not hesitate to recommend it.

An amazing property in a great location. We were a group of 34 including adults, teens and younger kids. Location was fabulous with wonderful views. The bar areas and hot tubs were superb and a great addition for a party. However as others have said the whole house is looking really worn and tired with repairs needed, two toilets in the rooms were literally falling off the walls, and another constantly running water making it impossible to flush. Stayed here for a week with family. Had a great time! The bar downstairs had plenty of space for us all to get together and was well stocked with pint glasses, and another bar upstairs had plenty of other glasses available to use. We had a lovely weekend. I read the reviews and understand some of the comments about the place being a bit tired, and sooner or later it will need a lick of paint. The furniture is generally a bit too rustic for a grand house of this type, so a bit out of place, but it didn't really detract from our visit.
