This spacious former farmhouse is set in the peaceful Somerset Levels village of Henton close to the Mendip hills and only 4 miles from the historic cathedral city of Wells.

Escape to the wilds of Somerset for a memorable milestone celebration or family reunion. Set over three floors, this superbly restored five-bedroom farmhouse can sleep up to 12 guests and has bags of outdoor space for parties and ball games on the lawn. Bordering the property is a delightful stream, which you can use for fishing. Trips to Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge are loads of fun for all ages and both are within 10 miles of the property. As well as exploring the magnificent caves, you can brave the animatronic Dinosaur Valley at Wookey and team up for an escape room challenge at Cheddar.

Inside, traditional features such as exposed beams, stone walls and flagstone floors give the property character. It's eco-friendly too, with a geothermal heat pump serving the underfloor heating and hot water, so you're doing your bit for the planet with a stay here. The spacious kitchen/diner is fully-equipped to cater for large groups, with a double oven and five-ring hob. Enjoy lively dinner parties in the stylish dining hall before settling down in the cosy sitting room to watch Sky TV or play board games from the collection provided. When you want some quiet time, head to the garden room. Overlooking the terrace with views across the Somerset Levels, it's a lovely spot to curl up by the wood burner with a good book. Upstairs, there are five bedrooms. All are lovely, but the master king-size suite on the first floor is extra special as it has its own private sitting room and en-suite shower room. The twin rooms on the second floor are ideal for children or those fit enough to climb two flights of stairs. Outside, get everyone together on the large enclosed patio area for a sizzling summer BBQ in the sunshine. Just 4 miles from the property is England's smallest city, Wells. Market days on Wednesdays and Saturdays are the ideal opportunity to pick up gifts and ingredients for a special meal. If you need a new party frock or shoes for the kids, Clarks Village shopping outlet (8 miles) will get you sorted. On dry days when you want to get out and about, you can cycle directly to either Wells or Glastonbury (6 miles) down beautiful country lanes or head to the coast for some good old-fashioned seaside fun in Weston-super-Mare (19.5 miles).

We had a great stay in this lovely extended farmhouse. It is in a great rural location, with fantastic views and just a short drive from Wells. Wow! The house is simply stunning the photos don't do it justice every room is extremely large, clean and tastefully decorated. We enjoyed the large garden, patio, orchard and stream. There is a nice church in Henton under 5 minutes walk away and we thoroughly enjoyed a tour of Fenny Castle vineyard, less than 5 minutes away by car. Wells and GlastRead moreonbury are well worth visiting. This house makes a fabulous, luxury, well equipped base, we can't recommend it enough. Hide

Such a lovely place and very helpful and friendly owners. Great value for money and more than enough space for everyone (we were a group of 10). Rooms are all bigger than the pictures make out, although ceilings downstairs are quite low (we had a few people in our group who are 6ft2+ whose heads were brushing the ceiling). Cannot fault this house. Beautiful, clean, spacious with excellent living areas and bedrooms. Felt like a home from home. Comfortably slept 12 (one on the sofa bed, one chose to bring a camp bed) and the living areas were great for that number of people too. Very close to Wells City and not far from Bath and Bristol. We had a lovely time, there were 12 of us but we never felt as if we were crowded as there was so much space. The layout is lovely and the two dining rooms and sitting rooms were great as we had 4 young children who love making a mess crafting and baking etc. I would definitely recommend the property.

Absolutely loved staying here! Great cottage with fantastic space and everything was available that was needed. Id say, you could not do better. Great location, just a few short miles from the Mendips for a walk or hike, close to Wells and Glastonbury. The house was superb, Towels etc were included although the Cottages.com text says they are not, so check this out. Everything was as it should be. Very comfortable, great kitchen space and well equipped. All Read moreseating areas were great. If you are to walk to the Pheasant Pub, take a torch with you, the road is narrow although a 30mph road. Hide

Double house barn is an amazing property in an idyllic location to explore the Mendips and surrounding countryside, its really well equipped and furnished and super comfy! We had a great time playing cricket on the front lawn too!
