In the quiet hamlet of Bowstead Gates, Ulverston, amongst the undulating hills, narrow lanes and stone walls of Cumbria lies this idyllic rural retreat suitable for family gatherings of group reunions. Nestled into the stunning countryside just south of the Lake District National Park, its quaint exterior conceals a warren of rooms and staircases, including five good-sized double bedrooms. Ulverston (2.5 miles), in the centre of the Furness Peninsula, is a lively, market town with lots to see/do amongst its cobbled streets. It is also the start of the Cumbrian Way, which is a 70-mile walking trail linking Ulverston with Carlisle in the north of the Lake District.
Contemporary, country-cottage décor has been used throughout the property with a variety of muted tones reflecting the changing colours outside, whilst original features and contemporary touches blend seamlessly. As you enter, you'll find yourself in the cosy snug. From here, a staircase leads down to the large kitchen/diner: the perfect place to tuck into the welcome hamper with friends/family. The usual appliances and a slow cooker, Nespresso machine, Nutribullet and sandwich maker will make feeding the masses easy. Another staircase from the snug leads up to the second, more spacious, lounge: a light and airy room with double doors leading on to the wooden balcony. One twin bedroom (or a king-size if requested at time of booking) is just off the kitchen and a second twin room can be found on the same floor as the lounge, with the further three rooms being on the next two floors, accessed via decorative spiral staircases. The property boasts two luxurious, spacious bathrooms and an en-suite shower room with complimentary toiletries. Outside, there is a terraced garden with a patio for enjoying a glass of wine in the evening. There is off-road parking for five cars. Popular town Ambleside is 22 miles away.
