This 300-year-old stone cottage offers the perfect blend of period charm and contemporary conveniences in an unbeatable village location with a walled courtyard perfect for summer evenings.

Dating back some 300 years, this charmingly picturesque 18th-century cottage makes a spacious and comfortable holiday base for up to eight guests exploring this beautiful part of the Peak District. Providing cosy and quiet self-catering accommodation, this pretty retreat is an ideal haven for a larger family or a group of friends exploring the southern and eastern parts of this stunning national park. The cottage is situated in the quaint and relaxing Derbyshire village of Calver, perfect for eager walkers, cyclists and nature-lovers, with miles of walks through the Derwent Valley. Just 5 miles away is the idyllic and thriving market town of Bakewell on the banks of the River Wye.

Situated along a quiet village lane, and entered through an iron front fence set in a stone wall, this beautifully updated property retains some original features including flagstone flooring in the kitchen, exposed beams and a wood burner set in a large fireplace in the pretty lounge. The lounge is an ideal space to relax in, with plenty of comfortable seating and a TV so you can snuggle up and enjoy a favourite movie at the end of a great day out. The bright and fully equipped country-style kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and is fitted with a Rayburn range oven. You can enjoy your favourite meals in the fresh and sociable dining room which features an original decorative fireplace with a traditional gritstone surround. Exploring the ground floor further, you will find the first of the cottage’s four cosy and inviting bedrooms: a twin room which is accessed via a couple of steps and has easy access to the ground-floor shower room. Heading upstairs, there are three further bedrooms to choose from on the first floor, all decorated in light, soothing tones. The master bedroom has a super-king-size bed and an en-suite shower room, the twin room has tranquil views across the countryside, and the double room looks out over Curbar Gap. There’s also a first-floor family bathroom. Stepping outside from the kitchen, you can unwind in the small, private, walled courtyard which makes a lovely suntrap and is ideal for sitting back with a glass of wine in the evening or enjoying a BBQ.

Beautiful, clean, spacious house with cute little courtyard at the back, ideal for our group of four couples and two dogs. Good location to explore the Peaks, we walked to Eyam one day, plenty of other walks from the door, ate at Derwentwater Arms (good for meat eaters but very average for vegans with three main courses, but no starters and only thRead moree ubiquitous sorbet for dessert), also had brunch at the Eating House which was superb. Minor negative was very soft mattress in master bedroom. Hide
