Superbly located in a small valley surrounded by beautiful countryside, this farmhouse is in an ideal position for exploring everything the Isle of Wight has to offer. It’s a haven for wildlife, and a wonderful walking and cycling area, with private paths across the farm that link to a network of footpaths. Follow these to nearby St Catherine’s Down, or to the coast at Chale, Blackgang, or Niton. From the farmhouse there’s also access to the beautiful south west coast of the island, with its small, quiet sandy covers. The larger sandy beaches of Ventnor, Shanklin, and Sandown are within a 15 minute drive.
The charming detached stone farmhouse is spacious and light, offering ample room for a large family or group of friends. On the ground floor is a large double aspect sitting room, furnished with sofas and armchairs around a wood burning stove and TV/DVD. There’s also a double aspect dining room, the perfect spot for a big group meal, with windows overlooking the garden. From the living room, head through double glass doors to the superbly equipped kitchen, with its bespoke wooden units and granite work tops. Here you’ll find a range style gas hob and electric oven, microwave, a full height fridge and separate freezer, and two dishwashers. There’s also an attractive breakfast area next to door which open onto the terrace. Also on the ground floor is a separate utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer, a large ante-room with coast cupboards, and a downstairs WC. Stairs lead up to four charming bedrooms, the master of which has a super-king size double bed, a walk-in wardrobe cupboard, and an en-suite bathroom with bath, overhead shower, and WC. There’s also a second spacious double bedroom with en-suite shower room and WC, plus two twin rooms, and a bathroom with bath, overhead shower, and WC. A folding bed for an extra child is also available on request for a small fee.
The large private 1.5 acre enclosed garden has a protected terrace with garden furniture and a BBQ - perfect for an al fresco dinner in the sunshine. There’s also a terrace to the front of the house which catches the evening sun and is a delightful place to relax and admire the array of wildlife that visit the garden including badgers, foxes, jackdaws and the resident owl in the barn. There is a true feeling of escape when visiting this rural retreat.
