Property code: TYLLO

A Welsh cottage with a South-of-France atmosphere, this former farm building provides a relaxing base for exploring the Cambrian Mountains and the coast at Aberystwyth. Bring your whole team for beach walks and hill hikes — the house is spacious and sociable, including a private garden with a sunny patio perfect for lazing in the fresh air, post-adventure. There’s even a hot tub, so you can well and truly unwind and indulge.

The property itself is a converted farm cottage, all laid out over a single floor. Begin in the kitchen, a contemporary space equipped with everything you need to rustle up a hiking picnic for the troops. Head through to the open-plan hub of the house, a comfy lounge with TV and a dining space beside a pair of French doors, which open straight out onto the patio. Here you can take your meal alfresco, before the stunning view of the hills while the kids play on the lawn. When you’re ready to recharge for tomorrow, choose your bedrooms. There are four to pick from, two peaceful doubles, including one with an en-suite shower room, and two twins, perfect for younger guests to make their own dens in their holiday home. As part of a complex of properties on this working farm, there are also shared grounds and a play area to explore - your own slice of Welsh farm life.

Stroll the vibrant town, try some local cuisine, or head straight to the beach with its Royal Pier, where you can enjoy traditional amusements. From the heart of town, you can also catch a ride on the Vale of Rheidol Railway, a steam train that follows the hills and valleys to Devil’s Bridge. Here you can alight and take in the astonishing sights of Devil’s Bridge Waterfalls and the impressive vaulted bridge that guards them. Head northeast from the cottage and in 9 miles you’ll reach the Nant yr Arian centre and woodland. Set off on a woodland walk and discover the natural habitats of many local species, including red kite, which you can witness being fed at the feeding centre.

It was a lovely cottage in a lovely location and the owner was friendly and helpful. He allowed us to walk our dog on part of his farm. I would recommend this cottage for a peaceful break and only a short drive to Aberystwyth with all of its facilities.

Our second visit here and just as enjoyable as this first! Highly recommended. Lovely accommodation and hot tub. Nice enclosed garden which keeps the dogs safe. Great location and the accommodation is well stocked. Appreciated the cookies and wine. Milk and tea and coffee also helped us to settle in. Highly recommend to all

Lovely cottage close to Aberystwyth. The hot tub and outdoor area was great. All of the amenities needed in the cottage itself. The owner was very friendly and we were really happy that we stayed there.

Owner friendly and helpful. Nice and secure for our 2 dogs. Plenty of room to spread out with nice barbie and hot tub. Small play area proved very popular with our youngest.

Beautiful cottage, with nice, fully enclosed garden which our dogs enjoyed. The patio part (with hot tub, gas bbq and table) is covered with canopy, what was useful on rainy days. Gareth was very friendly, and he informed us that we may use one of his fields for dog plays, when it wasn't used as sheep pasture. The location is very good, with AberysRead moretwyth only short drive away, and plenty of places to visit nearby. We definitely would like to return there someday. Hide

It's the location that counts on this cottage. Very remote and peaceful. So far into the sticks, in fact, that not many supermarkets will deliver to it.
