Epitomising rustic luxury, The Wood Barn is an exceptional property set within the private parkland of a stunning 5,000-acre estate nestled in the Suffolk countryside. One of a number of exclusive properties on the same estate, it enjoys a wonderfully secluded location with access to activities to suit all tastes, from paddle boarding and rowing to tennis and clay-pigeon shooting.
The flawlessly converted former cart shed features four sumptuous double bedrooms sleeping eight guests in king-size Hypnos beds. Each room is furnished to the highest standard, presenting quirky hand-picked furniture and accessories complemented by an impeccable attention to detail in décor and soft furnishings. Two of the bedrooms feature stylish, in-room roll-top baths, the others boast luxurious shower rooms with fluffy towels, offering guests an indulgent experience from the moment they awake. Glorious views can be enjoyed from the bedrooms, one of which is on the ground floor with its own small patio accessed via large sliding doors.
The open-plan living area forms the heart of this stunning home. Heated brick floors create a warm and comfortable environment, where deep sofas, a stunning suspended wood burner and a plethora of cushions, throws and rugs invite relaxation while you gaze out at the rural idyll which lies beyond the shuttered glass doors. Alongside the lounge area, the same calming views can be enjoyed from the dining table, while at the end of the barn lies a beautiful kitchen with professional range, large island, butler sink and everything you’ll need to cater for yourselves during your stay.
The garden offers yet more space for relaxing and socialising. A private terrace with BBQ and dining furniture provides the perfect setting for an al fresco meal while the setting sun drenches the surrounding countryside with golden hues.
Beyond the immediate exterior of the barn stretches the glorious estate, which you can explore on the complimentary Pashley bicycles. An abundance of activities can be organised on the estate at an additional cost, including archery, clay-pigeon shooting, rowing, paddle boarding, wilderness experiences and a variety of classes from floral design to cooking. A shared naturally filtered oval swimming pool can be found within the grounds. Surrounded by sculpted grass terraces and boasting a hot tub and day beds, it is heated from 1 May to 30 September. A hard tennis court can be booked on a complimentary basis during your stay, and private coaching can be arranged at an extra cost if required.
