The Stone Farmhouse is a peaceful and historic stone farmhouse, set in rural Normandy, just 20 minutes from beautiful sandy beaches. Le Mont St Michel, the D-Day beaches, Hambye Abbey and the pretty medieval town of Bayeaux are all within easy reach.

This beautiful house has been sympathetically renovated and modernised to create a stunning holiday home that oozes with character throughout. Until recently, the property was the home of the village doctor, but now its beamed ceilings, huge stone walls, tiled floors and vast Normandy stone fireplace, welcome guests for a truly unforgettable holiday.

With six bedrooms and a combination of en-suite bathrooms, shower rooms and WCs, there is plenty of room for a large family or group of friends to spend quality time together, under one roof. The living space consists of a well-equipped kitchen, a dining room with a beamed ceiling and large lounge with a fireplace and TV.

French doors make the beautiful gardens accessible from every ground floor room. Head out on to the terrace and you’ll find a real suntrap, perfect for alfresco dining with seating and a gas BBQ. The huge lawn gardens surround the house with apple orchards, magnolias and flowering cherries. On the lower lawn, you’ll find the magnificent private, heating pool where you can relax in the sunshine and enjoy views out over the valley. For your convenience there is also a pool hut for changing, sun loungers and pool furniture.

The property is ideal for a family holiday, reunion or a special celebration among friends. It is also particularly suitable for disabled or less-able guests with accessible lawns and paths, gradual steps within the pool and there are several specialist items available upon request including an Oxford Dipper pool hoist and an Oxford mobile hoist.

SLEEPS 14: 6 bedrooms. Spread across 2 floors, there are 2 double bedrooms, 3 twin rooms and a large triple/quad room that is idea for children or groups of friends. The room on the ground floor is wheelchair accessible so perfect for disabled or less-able guests.

ADDITIONAL BEDS: Cots are provided for families with children.

COOK + DINE: A kitchen with modern appliances such as a dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer and with an archway through to a spacious breakfast room and dining room with seating for 14 people.

RELAX: There is a large lounge with a beamed ceiling and Normandy fireplace. A swimming pool to sunbathe beside.

BATHE: There are 2 bathrooms, 2 shower rooms 2, en-suites, 1 of which is connected to the accessible room on the ground floor and a downstairs WC.

OUTSIDE: Enjoy beautiful gardens, a private, heated swimming pool (May – Oct) and a south-facing terrace with a BBQ and dining area. For peace of mind, the pool area is fenced and lockable. 

TECH: TV, Wi-Fi, DVD player, Satellite TV, video player, telephone with free calls to European landlines, an Oxford mobile hoist and other aids are available for disabled guests.

UTILITY: There is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

PLAY: Enjoy hours of fun in the swimming pool, borrow bikes and explore the countryside, relax in front of the TV or challenge the family to a table tennis tournament.

PETS: Well-behaved pets are welcome by prior arrangement at £25 per dog, per week

VENUE HIRE: This property does not cater for weddings or corporate events.

ADDITIONAL INFO: Bed linen and towels are available for hire at a cost of £18 per person. All duvets and pillows are provided but if you have ordered linen then this will comprise duvet and pillowcases, sheets, two towels per person and tea towels and bath mats. The Stone Farmhouse offers a 20% discount with Brittany Ferries off any number of cars and passengers.

LOCAL AREA: This historic stone farmhouse is set in unspoilt rural Normandy, only 20 minutes from the wide expanses of golden sandy beaches and shallow seas. Surrounded by cider orchards and family farms with dairy herds, you will never be far from somewhere to sample a wonderful cider or delicious cheese. The nearest town is Hambye which has a baker, butcher and small supermarket for essential provisions as well as a weekly market for fresh local produce, especially fresh fish and and shellfish.

The romantic ruins of the Benedictine Hambye Abbey are on your doorstep and the Auberge de L’Abbaye is a short drive away. The cathedral cities of Coutances and Bayeaux, famous for its tapestry depicting the battle of Hastings in 1066 are perfect for an afternoon out and the magical islet of Mont Saint-Michel is certainly worth a visit, just make sure you cross with a guide. There are some very interesting war museums in the area and the historic D-Day landing beaches are located to the north east of the property.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY: The area is perfect for walking and hiking with its huge National Parks nearby. There is mini golf in La Baleine, and various museums in the surrounding towns. Try some organic cider at Cidre Fermier Lemasson or visit one of the many restaurants in the area. Bungee jumping and other activities can be found at the Viaduc De La Soulevre and microlighting over the magical island of Mont Saint-Michel is now a possibility!
