Nestling in an idyllic rural location close to a lovely sandy beach in the picturesque seaside village of Bonchurch, this superb cottage makes a tranquil, spacious and relaxing holiday home.

Literature fans rejoice with a stay in the original stables of Winterbourne House, the home in which Charles Dickens wrote David Copperfield. The traditionally British property has retained classic elements throughout and offers a truly rural break. Sleeping eight across four spacious bedrooms, you'll find a place for family members of all ages to relax and unwind.

The remarkably pretty property is surrounded by wild flora and greenery, creating the picture-perfect countryside spot. On entering the cottage, you'll find the traditional elements are carried on throughout, with antique-style furnishings and soft colours through every room. Enter into the generous kitchen which offers appliances for all manner of chefs, including a warming draw for budding bread bakers. Once the meal has been prepared you can move into the dining room and sit down to a family dinner, ideal for a birthday or anniversary celebration. Feel free to retire into the lounge and put some logs on the wood burner before grabbing one of the board games left for you to use. Alternatively, you might prefer to relax in the suntrap of a conservatory and enjoy a good book, before heading onto the private acre of garden for a sunbathe or a run around with the kids. The bedrooms all maintain the classic British style throughout, utilising floral soft furnishings and offering tranquil views of the garden. Downstairs, you'll find an accessible twin room with en-suite shower room and heading onto the first floor, you'll find a king-size master bedroom, a cosy double and a pretty twin with a large balcony.

Please note there is a refundable £250 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

The picturesque village of Bonchurch must be explored throughout your stay, as it offers an affectionate snapshot of rural Isle of Wight. You'll find the village's 11th-century church just down the narrow path from the property, as well as a delightful pond just 300 metres away. You'll find a pub and a cafe both within walking distance, ideal for days where you don't fancy going too far. For a secluded beach spot head down to Monks Bay (0.5 miles), a true ‘Wight secret' and a shingle beach with often safe swimming conditions. Make use of the island's southern microclimate and take a dip in the English Channel. For a more traditional seaside holiday, you'll want to head 1 mile down the coast to Ventnor, where a much more bustling beach benefits from a promenade with traditional arcade games and the beautiful Victorian Ventnor Park. On a sunny day, be sure to summit the St. Boniface Down (2.5 miles), where you'll reach the highest point on the Isle of Wight and enjoy wonderful views of countryside and sea.

The cottage is in a superb location and is well laid out to maximise the views and access to the stunning garden. The owner is friendly and accessible but not intrusive. The cottage could be used as the setting for an Agatha Christie novel but blends old fashioned comfort with modern facilities and is just far enough from Ventnor to be peaceful butRead more near enough to stroll into town with the coast path and beach minutes away. A charming cottage which kept cool in extremely hot weather. The drive and approach road were very steep when walking out. Beautiful garden and sea views from bedrooms.

Spring Cottage was spacious, yet cosy, well equipped and very comfortable. A beautiful setting with red squirrels in abundance. Couldn't have asked for more.

The cottage was comfortable and well equipped. The children loved playing in the garden and we even spotted a playful red squirrel. We had a wonderful week in a great location.
