Nestling in an idyllic rural location close to a lovely sandy beach in the picturesque seaside village of Bonchurch, this superb cottage makes a tranquil, spacious and relaxing holiday home.

The lovely seaside village of Bonchurch lies on the southeast coast of the island, and offers a small shop, pub, good restaurant and two ancient churches, plus a pretty pond which is home to carp, ducks and a variety of birds. The nearby beach is of sand and shingle, with areas of rock pools which are great for finding small fish and crabs. You can also enjoy a pleasant walk along by the sea into the small seaside town of Ventnor with its sheltered sandy beach, a good variety of shops and restaurants and the renowned Ventnor Botanic Garden. This attractive coastal path also heads eastwards to the sandy beaches of the popular resorts of Sandown and Shanklin.

This beautiful cottage has been carefully extended and renovated from the original stone-built stables of Winterbourne House, where Charles Dickens wrote David Copperfield, to provide a wonderfully spacious and attractive property. The cottage enjoys beautiful sea views from most of its rooms and from its enchanting garden. On entering you will find yourself in the lovely and spacious lounge. With plenty of comfy seating, an open HD TV and DVD, the welcoming and tastefully furnished lounge is an ideal space to relax in. You will also find a delightful dining room, and the attractively designed kitchen is fully equipped with an electric oven plus warming drawer, a gas hob with a special wok facility, microwave, dishwasher, large fridge and separate freezer. A washing machine/tumble dryer are provided in a separate garden room. Also on the ground floor there is a small conservatory for you to sit back in and unwind. Books and a variety of board games are also provided. The cottage has four spacious and charming bedrooms which all have sea views. On the ground floor there is a beautiful twin bedroom with an en-suite shower room with a built-in shower, basin and WC. This shower room can be accessed via two doors and can be made available for more general use if required. Going upstairs you will find three further cosy bedrooms. There’s a master bedroom with a king-size bed and which is a charming split-level room with a floor to ceiling window and a beautifully tiled bathroom with a slipper bath, hand-held shower and WC. There is a second lovely double bedroom with an en-suite shower room with WC, and you will also find a pretty twin room with patio doors opening on to a large balcony which in summer is made particularly idyllic with blooms of a trailing clematis and passionflower vines. Immediately adjacent to this room is a shower room with a built-in double seated shower and WC.

French doors lead outside from the lounge, where you will find a large secluded acre of garden with lovely lawns, trees and shrubberies, a long pergola covered with plants, and a small spring. The setting of this cottage is one of its most splendid aspects. You can relax in the sunshine with views of the English Channel and watch the boats pass by. There is parking space for two cars in the drive.

We were made to feel so welcome by the owners of Spring cottage. It was ideal for our family, 3 years to 72 years. The children found it very exciting, loved the huge garden and the close proximity to the beach. We hope to return next year.
