Ideal for a couples’ retreat to the peaceful Yorkshire countryside, or a family get-together for a birthday or special celebration, this charming cottage sleeps eight people across four bedrooms. Set in the heart of the picturesque village of Wortley, guests benefit from a village pub and tea room less than 0.5 miles from your door, as well as the hotel’s on-site restaurant, so when you all want a break from cooking, stroll down the road and enjoy a meal out. If you’re planning a relaxed holiday to make the most of each other’s company, then this is a lovely base to settle in. There’s enough to keep you busy in the local area, including walks along the Upper Don Trail, and Wortley Top Forge (2 miles), where you can step back in time and while away an afternoon.

With rustic touches and bright rooms filled with natural light, the property retains a stylish country charm which creates a wonderful calm atmosphere. Exposed wooden beams and vaulted, sloping ceilings can be found throughout. Remove shoes and boots, and head through to the kitchen to put food shopping away and decide whose turn it is to cook. A lovely space with a door to the patio, a wooden floor, and a high ceiling, feel at ease as you prepare a favourite dish. A few steps lead down to the open-plan lounge/diner, where you’ll gather for evenings eating at the table followed by competing over games, watching the Smart TV, and browsing the Wi-Fi for day trip ideas. When you can’t keep your eyes open any longer, say goodnight. For one person, their bedroom is just off the kitchen, but everyone else will climb the steep cottage-style stairs and head to bed. Soak with a refreshing bath or shower in the morning, then take breakfast outside. Sit with your tea and toast in the enclosed walled patio area and then breathe in the fresh air with a gentle stroll around the wider grounds of the hotel.

Amazing place to stay. One of the highlights was the walk through the grounds and beyond. Fantastic views and fascinating to find out the history of the hall.

Repairs to Wooden Floor in the kitchen are a tripping hazard! Whilst we understand the property has been Sympathetically redone the windows upstairs need attention. The 2 metal double beds need thicker mattresses! I would recommend this property to a friend if all the points above were dealt with!

The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and were quick to offer a hotel room, and free meal when the boiler broke down during our stay. The house was very spacious to accommodate 6 adults. There was an under counter fridge and separate under counter freezer. However, the house was quite 'tired' and would have benefitted from a check over beforeRead more our arrival. A welcome pack on arrival would have been useful, to explain where to put rubbish, how appliances worked, and local attractions. Hide

This cottage is in a lovely area with opportunities to access walks easily. Several heritage sites and properties are close by. The downstairs bedroom was excellent for a friend who has poor mobility, The cottage was warm with plenty of hot water in the two good bathrooms. The Hall facilities are useful and the staff there were very friendly.
