Offering gorgeous views across Greylake RSPB nature reserve that you’ll never tire of, this farmland lodge is in a beautiful setting. On a clear day you can see for miles around from the ingenious undercover balcony that is a standout feature of the master family bedroom. Positioned on the fringes of the Somerset village of Moorlinch, the property sleeps eight guests across four bedrooms spread over two levels. It’s perfect for multi-generational families right from babies to great-grandparents as it has bedrooms on the ground floor as well as a cot for the newest member of your flock. Once you’ve settled in, enjoy strolls around the fields, keeping an eye out for rabbits and grazing sheep as you go.

The property is simply decorated in neutral tones, and at its heart is the light and welcoming living area with underfloor heating and wicker sofas. Immerse yourself in the action while watching the big match or a movie on the TV with surround-sound or fill the room with music from the iPod dock. When it comes to family mealtimes, gather round the dining table, wander down to the local pub or dine alfresco on the decked areas. While the grown-ups sit back with a glass of wine watching the sun go down, the younger members of the family can play on the lawn or have a game of swing ball. Both the ground-floor double bedrooms have patio doors leading out on to the covered decked walkway around the lodge. Upstairs, the master family bedroom has access to the covered balcony. Sit with a mug of coffee taking in the far-reaching views across the Somerset Levels.

Somerset has many unique outdoor landmarks for families to explore. Glastonbury is around 8 miles away, with its famous Tor and abbey, while at Cheddar Gorge (15 miles) you can explore the stalactite caverns and team up for an escape room challenge. In summer, Greenbank heated outdoor pool in Street (5 miles) is a refreshing place to swim, while on a rainy day the nearby Clarks Village shopping outlet is the place to go for up to 60% off designer brands. There are several National Trust properties in the region, including Fyne Court in the Quantock Hills, with its wild garden and woodland walks. The coast is within 15 miles if you fancy a day out at the seaside, with Burnham-on-Sea offering a long sandy beach, water parks and amusements. In November why not visit one of the carnivals held in the South West, such as Bridgwater, North Petherton or Glastonbury?

Lovely views from property. A little bit isolated. Village shop no longer exists. Property could benefit from more comfortable and spacious seating. Beautiful lodge, with fabulous views. Really well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds made for a relaxed holiday. Barbecues on the decking were a perfect way to spend an evening. Beautiful spot, and a cuppa in the morning with the sheep just outside is surely as rural as you can get. Dont leave without a visit to the Ring O Bells down the road.

We were told that the heating goes off at the beginning of April. It was really cold on our first day and had to ask for the heating to be put on. The views were lovely but a shame the windows were not clean nor all the cupboards but we ate out. We were informed that the cleaner had let the owner down.
