Set at the end of a long private lane, this delightful 200-year-old cottage enjoys stunning countryside views and offers cosy accommodation for a family exploring Nidderdale and the Yorkshire Dales.

A warm welcome awaits you at this home from home stone cottage, with a hamper of treats from the owner to start your holiday in style. Sleeping a party of eight across four bedrooms, the property boasts two cosy living areas for ultimate comfort, with a lounge and snug, as well as entertainment for all ages including a pool table and selection of books and games. From the cottage, it's only 1 mile into Ripley village, where there is a pub, butchers, shop, and tea room, as well as the 14th-century castle plus a lake and deer park to explore.

Exuding traditional charm, the property has been handsomely decorated throughout with an eye to its 200-year old heritage. The living room, a lovely space for spending evenings together, has a double wood burner, perfect for when the temperature drops. In here, you can gather to watch TV or a film, play games on the central coffee table or take turns to compete in a tournament at the pool table. When you want space to spread out, there is also the peaceful snug, with oak floors and wood burner. It's an ideal room for retreating to with a book or for a quiet chat, curled up on the comfortable sofas. For bites to eat and leisurely meals, grab a seat at the kitchen island, or come together under the exposed beams in the formal dining room for a special dinner at the table. You don't need to worry about the clutter of eight people either, as there's a handy utility room and boot room for all the storage space your group will need. Of the four bedrooms, there is a king-size, two doubles, and one twin. On the ground floor is the double, with its own en-suite shower room, while the rest are up the original stone staircase on the first floor. The king-size comes complete with its own en-suite bathroom, while the double and twin share a bright family bathroom. After a peaceful night's sleep, wake refreshed and start the day in the garden, a private one-acre plot where you can dine alfresco or spend a lazy hour relaxing on the hammock, before venturing out.

Scarah Cottage is a great holiday home if you are looking for a quiet, peaceful location close to amenities and with great walks from the doorstep. The cottage is beautiful with unique features, it is well-equipped and the beds are so comfortable. The garden is idyllic with lovely flowers, stone walls, an outdoor eating area and surrounded by farmlRead moreand. The owner John was most helpful and answered all queries promptly. I would definitely book the cottage again for a future holiday. Hide

Cottage is in a great location, the garden is fabulous but spoilt by the noise from the traffic, but due to good double glazing you can hear no traffic from inside the house. The interior of the cottage is beautifully done and feels like home from home.

We loved the house and the garden, very comfortable and homely, the only downside for us was not being able to walk from the house with the dogs without avoiding the busy roads.

Lovely cottage just off the road surrounded by sheep, pheasants and trees. Very comfortable, lots of room and well equipped.

This was a perfect cottage for our family at New Year. Very comfortable and plenty of space with different areas where we could get together. One of the loveliest aspects were the beautiful views from every window. I would have given it a ten overall if there had been a coffee machine - but I am a bit of a coffeeholic!
