A pair of adjoining barns, accommodating up to ten guests in comfort, the properties share an internal connecting door, making them well suited for multi-generational stays.

A spacious and sociable reception room sets the scene for family games and mealtimes, with exposed ceiling trusses and wooden flooring bathed in natural light. The kitchen is characterful and contains all the modern conveniences you could need to cater for ten.

There are four bedrooms in total, three in the larger Saddle Cottage and one in Bridle Cottage where all accommodation is located on the ground floor with wide doorways and a wet room making the property suitable for more elderly, or disabled guests.

Outside, a games room houses a table tennis and pool table for a spot of family rivalry during your stay. A large terrace is perfect for al fresco meals during the summer months, with an outdoor table and chairs to seat 10.

LOCAL AREA: Situated in the Herefordshire village of Little Cowarne, Saddle and Bridle Cottage is situated within a 30-minute drive of the city of Worcester and the national road network. Pay a visit to the gourmet market town of Ludlow (22.5 miles) for quality restaurants, and historic Leominster (11.4 miles) in Herefordshire which is the start of the picturesque Black and White Village Trail. In the wider area, the towns of Hay-on-Wye (30.4 miles), Ross-on-Wye (22.5 miles) and Hereford (12 miles) can all be reached easily by car, making the cottages an ideal base to explore The Borders and The Marches.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Leominster is known as ‘The Town in the Marches’, located at the confluence of the River Lugg and the River Kenwater. The Marches is a region that straddles the border of Wales and England and covers parts of Herefordshire, Powys and Shropshire. Foodies should invest some of their time embarking on a tour of the Monkland Cheese Dairy (14 miles). The half-hour tours include a cheese-tasting at the end and a view of the process of making certain cheeses. Cheese experience days also occur once a month, so if your holiday coincides, you could get the chance to produce your own samples.

The historic city of Worcester (20.9 miles) offers something for everyone. Spend time exploring the city’s varied and fascinating history in the City Art Gallery and Museum, the Infirmary Museum, and the Museum of Royal Worcester, which tells the story of its world-renowned porcelain manufacture.

Leominster is within driving distance of Hereford (12 miles), famous for its Cathedral, which contains the oldest textile map in existence (13th century) called Mappa Mundi. Hereford is also full of entertainment venues, pubs, restaurants and museums. The city also has some pleasant walks along the River Wye, so add a visit to your holiday itinerary.
