A charming four-bedroom countryside cottage with warm woods used throughout, perfect for families and friends seeking a tranquil base from which to explore the Scottish Highlands.

With woodland to the rear and open fields to the front of the property, this lovely holiday cottage, one of only four self-catering properties in the farm grounds, has a sense of rural seclusion. Follow the trails through the shady woodland for a long walk from the doorstep or stroll to the river for a ramble along its tranquil banks. Explore the ruins of Edzell Castle (5.5 miles) and amble around the walled gardens in search of the preserved summer house. Play a round at the world's fifth oldest golf course at nearby Montrose Golf Links (11 miles) where the Broomfield course is ideal for families. Play beach cricket along the 3 miles of golden sand at St Cyrus (13 miles) or for water sports including surfing, water-skiing and sailing on the beach at Montrose (10.5 miles).

Enjoying a tucked-away location on the edge of the woods, your charming cottage is approached via a long driveway and rustic wooden gate. Follow the path to the entrance porch where you can leave wellies and walking boots and hang up your outdoor clothes. Step through into the fabulous open-plan living space where the double-height ceilings add to a sense of space and light in the room. Neutral tones and polished wooden floors create a feeling of warmth and relaxation. In the lounge area, sumptuous sofas are positioned for you to curl up and enjoy the wonderful warmth of the wood burner and while away the evening in quiet conversation. At the other end of the space, the stylish kitchen has plenty of room for your provisions and has everything you need to prepare your family meals. Equipped with an electric hob, fridge/freezer, chest freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine, your cottage offers a real home from home. The pine sideboard is filled with pretty crockery and china and you can dine in style at the centrally positioned dining table. Step through to the airy garden room overlooking the secret courtyard. Sink into the cosy sofa and watch the red squirrels springing from tree to tree or lie back and gaze at the stars through the glazed roof. From the sunroom, hallways lead to the four stylish bedrooms, all individually styled with luxurious linens and sumptuous soft furnishings. Off the sunroom is your master king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room, a generous room overlooking the garden with feature wallpaper and co-ordinating soft furnishings. Along the hall is a stylish bathroom with washbasin and WC and at the end of the hallway is the second king-size bedroom, another large room. Bathed in natural light from the French doors leading to the courtyard garden, this is a lovely room with bright artwork adorning the walls and ample storage for your possessions in the wardrobe. Two further twin bedrooms can be found off the opposite hallway. With crisp linens and snug throws, the first of the twin bedrooms is warm and cosy with window overlooking the woodlands. The second of the twin bedrooms has French doors leading onto the courtyard garden and is a bright and airy room. Between these two bedrooms is the large shower room with washbasin and WC.

Take your morning coffee and croissants on the courtyard patio, a secluded spot where you can start your day and watch the birds swoop overhead. Play garden games on the lawn or sit on the garden bench and watch the deer grazing at dusk. Spread your blanket out for sunbathing or an al fresco picnic lunch. With a path leading from the cottage through the woodlands, you have extensive grounds to spend the days exploring at your leisure.
