  • Ideal base to explore the Scottish Highlands with an abundance of wildlife to spot and Loch fishing opportunities
Property code: CA246

This beautiful home boasts spectacular scenery from all angles. The rugged Scottish countryside combined with sparking Gruinard Bay views creates a magical space just waiting to be explored.

Set on a craggy hillside, this former farmhouse enjoys sweeping views across beautiful Gruinard Bay and the mountains beyond. There’s a welcoming warmth to the property and large family groups looking to reconnect and enjoy the amazing scenery will feel instantly at home. From the doorstep, there are rural pursuits aplenty, from fly and hill loch fishing for brown trout to an abundance of walks through spectacular west coast landscapes. And when you return, you can toast crumpets on the Aga, put your feet up in front of a roaring open fire and switch off from the world for a while.

The house has a large utility room with drying racks and separate washing/drying machines, plus a back hall, so there’s no need to worry about trouping the family in from muddy walks or sandy adventures. Warm up in the cosy kitchen, kept toasty by the Aga, and dish out some well-deserved snacks and hot drinks at the kitchen table. With an electric oven and hob too, rustling up evening meals for the masses will be no problem, and there’s a microwave too for those days when you return home too hungry to wait. There’s space for the whole group around the dining table along the hall - with dual aspect windows, this is a lovely bright space, and when dinner’s done, it doubles as a great place to spread out a jigsaw puzzle or family game. Light the open fire and settle into the comfortable sofas in the living room for late-night catchups and a family movie on the TV or let the children run off the last bit of energy exploring the enclosed garden. A twin bedroom and a shower room downstairs is a useful addition, while upstairs, a double room and three further twin rooms – one with an additional child’s bed – should cater for most family set-ups. And two bathrooms, one with a shower over the bath, will avoid any morning queues, leaving more time to get outdoors and enjoy the countryside.

We stayed for New Year week and had a fabulous time the house has plenty of space and very comfortable. The location is a bit out of the way as we stay near Glasgow but was definitely worth the journey, will hopefully be back soon.
