There's a stylish unfussy decor throughout, and both king-size rooms have their own en-suite and French doors to either the front or rear garden. Kids will be pleased to find TVs in all bedrooms including the twin rooms, and a full-sized pool table in the converted garage – accessed from the hallway as well as outside. Upstairs is a gorgeous fresh, bright open-plan living space, with French doors and balconies at both ends of the room. Serve dinner inside – or outside on the large south-facing balcony if the weather is good, and there's a breakfast bar on the kitchen island for laid-back lunches or afternoon snacks. Kick back in the large lounge area at the front of the house with views across to sea from the comfortable corner sofa, or retreat to the separate snug next door with its own sea-view balcony for a little peace and quiet. It's just a 500-metre walk to the sandy beach and half a mile into the village centre which has a decent selection of shops and restaurants with all the essentials like a bakery for your fresh morning pastries, plus a spectacular sweet shop which the kids will make a beeline for. There is plenty to occupy the whole family on the beach, with surf hire and lessons, go-karts, and amusement arcades with ten-pin bowling as well as paddling and rock pools to explore. Stroll along the 2.5km beach to the estuary, or take a walk in Northam Burrows Country Park which runs alongside. There are plenty of stretches of coast path to wander – you can walk around to the pretty fishing village of Appledore, in 4 miles, or simply head south up onto the cliffs for some stunning views out to Lundy Island. Nature lovers will enjoy a boat trip to Lundy from Appledore or Bideford to spot puffins, seals and maybe even dolphins. The Big Sheep amusement park is just 3 miles away, and older children (and parents) will love The Ultimate Adventure Centre, also 3 miles away, with fantastic Total Wipeout-style assault trails, high-rope courses and coasteering.

Lovely house and location, very spacious with wonderful balconies. Well equipped, decorated and maintained. Lovely welcome tray with tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk in the fridge this was very well received after such a delayed journey. Hot tub is a great addition.

The cottage was very comfortable and well equipped. Was a really good size for eight people with plenty of space for everyone. Lovely and warm, great location so close to everything you need.

Fantastic location and views. House was very spacious with everything you need. Ideal for those with dogs as right on the Burrows doorstep. Lots of places close by to eat that are dog friendly and plenty of take aways too: Atlantic Fish and chip shop and Pig and Olive pizza place both very good. We will definitely return.

We had a lovely stay at Mondeville - Location is great, minutes from the beach and plenty of space internally. Garden is fully secure for dogs but can only be accessed via a bedroom or the side gate. The only downside was the amount of noise that could be heard downstairs in the bedrooms when people were upstairs in the living space. We had a baby Read morewith us and we struggled to get them to sleep because of this, however otherwise the perfect stay. Highly recommend Hide

We stayed at Mondeville for a surprise family holiday in June 23. The house is excellent and we loved the open plan living, with fantastic views of the burrows and sea/coastline beyond. The hot tub, pool table and good sized garden ensured everyone was catered for. We couldnt fault it.

The property was exactly as described on the website with all amenities within walking distance. Just a short walk from the beach and as we were there from 1st May our dog was still able to use one part of the beach. Would highly recommend Morans Thai restaurant. Absolutely superb property a credit to the owners but especially Jane, what a treasure she is. We have rented holiday homes all over Europe as well as Florida and Cape Town, this property is certainly one of the better ones. A truly wonderful property.

This property is absolutely beautiful. The views from the upstairs rooms are outstanding you could spend hours just sitting and watching. All local amenities are on the door step just a few minutes walk away, pubs, shops and Tesco's express and if you arrive late in the day and need some food there's a lovely pizza shop around the corner.
