Sleeping eight people across four bedrooms and welcoming two dogs, it’s the perfect base for a family or a group of friends who want to enjoy a relaxed Cornish break at any time of the year. Spend your days exploring Cornwall’s breathtaking countryside, before retiring to this lovingly-restored former dairy, which was built by the owner’s great grandfather back in 1926.

Make your way up the flight of steps to the front of this property and you’ll find yourself on a pretty terrace area that leads into this thoughtfully arranged reverse-level property. The unique layout maximises the beautiful views on offer from this property. Step into the spacious lounge/kitchen/diner - a fabulously light double-aspect space that will make you feel immediately at home - just the place to cook up a feast for your loved ones. Dine in front of the beautiful bay window in the space’s sociable dining area. Alternatively, head out to the property’s paved terrace and strike up the BBQ. There you can dine while you soak up lovely views over the river valley. After dinner, relax in front of the wood burner in the living area while you watch your favourite movie, or take a glass of something chilled to the seating area on the lawn. At the end of the day there are two beautifully-finished bedrooms on the first floor to choose from, as well as two lovely bedrooms on the ground floor. The ground floor bedrooms both have French doors that open out onto a quaint seating area – the perfect place to plan your day ahead over your morning coffee.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

If you’re a history buff, you’ll be delighted to find the wonderful Restormel Castle right on this property’s doorstep. Built in the late 13th century, this circular castle was a luxurious retreat for its medieval owners. It’s also a wonderful picnic spot. You should also grab the opportunity to visit the gardens and woodlands at Lanhydrock Victorian country house and estate in Bodmin (5 miles). Beach bums should head for Par Sands (9 miles), a lovely beach on the Cornish Riviera that offers a large expanse of firm sand backed by the dunes. The adventure junkies among you can zip line and base jump to your heart’s content at the Eden Project (7 miles), while more chilled-out members of your party can stroll the Rainforest Canopy Walkway or explore the Mediterranean Biome. And fans of the TV show Poldark can explore the famous port of Charlestown (7.5 miles).

If you are looking for a holiday where you can park the car for a week, to enjoy walking with your dog to different places each day right from your doorstep, then Mellingey is the perfect place to stay. There is a choice of woodland or river side walks and local pubs only a short walk away in the town centre from our quiet location.

The house was everything I wanted it to be ...away from other people, spacious enough that one could have a chill zone, beautifully arranged , decorated and equipped and in a very good location.

We fell in love with this cottage the moment we walked in. The well equipped open plan kitchen diner was great for family meals. We enjoyed the views from the lounge and the bedrooms were very comfortable. The steps up would not suit the infirm.

Cottage was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen had everything we needed, plenty of cutlery and glasses. Big fridge and freezer, we cooked every night. Village had small supermarket and plenty of pubs! Showers were a delight, plenty of hot water. Dog friendly accommodation. Garden was terraced with beautiful views and plenty of seating.
