An elegant French chateau nestled in the peaceful countryside of the Lot-et-Garonne, just a short walk from the local village, Maison de Maitre is an idyllic choice for a group getaway.
Flanked by pointed turrets and approached via a gravel driveway, Maison de Maitre impresses from the outset. As befitting a property of this style, the interior is equally attractive, with exquisite reception rooms and beautiful sleeping quarters.
From the spacious entrance hall, climb the elegant staircase to the two floors of bedrooms. The chateau accommodates 18 guests across eight unique bedrooms, six of which are en-suite, with notable features such as a four-poster bed, exposed stone walls and arched castle windows. The eighth bedroom is perfect for children, with two sets of bunkbeds sleeping four little ones who’ll love their fairy-tale castle experience.
The en-suite bathrooms are beautifully appointed; four of them are housed within the turrets offering a unique and romantic bathing experience, some with rolltop baths, others with luxurious showers.
The bright, French family-style kitchen boasts an American-style fridge-freezer, spacious island with oven and gas hob, espresso coffee machine, microwave and all the essentials for cooking up a storm for all your guests. Breakfast can be enjoyed at the small table in the kitchen and group meals can be served up in the dining room which has space to seat 20 guests comfortably.
Once you’re full of delicious French fayre, relax and enjoy each other’s company in one of two calming reception rooms; a cream drawing room with comfortable sofas or the lounge with open fire, television and more sofas with abundant cushions.
Outside, a large heated swimming pool provides the focus for sunny days relaxing together and if the sun should get too much, enjoy some respite in the shade of the poolside gazebos. Behind the pool, the games room upstairs in the orangery will keep children (and big kids!) occupied for hours with table tennis, a drum kit and a selection of wooden games. The ground floor of the orangery is a beautiful space well-suited to weddings and other celebrations.
The chateau is surrounded by well-kept gardens, including a BBQ terrace, lawns, sun-terraces, meadows, orchards and even a lake, the perfect place for a relaxing stroll during your stay.
