A delightful property dating back to a pre-Victorian era with connections to Florence Nightingale.  An original tiled flooring and Victorian style conservatory gives a real sense of history and character. Positioned on the edge of the village of Holloway.

A stay in this pre-Victorian property, sleeping ten people across four bedrooms, will make you feel like you've stepped onto the set of a period drama. With high-ceilinged, romantic rooms, and views overlooking the gorgeous green reaches of the Peak District National Park, it's the perfect place to host a special retreat for you and your friends.

Arrive at the front gate of the property and you'll sense its history right away. In fact, this characterful building once had connections to Florence Nightingale. A stone courtyard wraps around the house and leads to a Victorian-style conservatory, where some of the best views of the surrounding hills can be enjoyed in sweet style. Head into the main house and you'll discover its grand heart — a large dining room with a table, perfectly suited for those deep and meaningful holiday discussions, and a magnificent bay window. Head through to a charming sitting room, light and airy, with a period fireplace. This is where you'll want to relax after a day of climbing the peaks. Beside the dining room is a gorgeous Victorian kitchen with all the modern equipment you could need to scrub up some hearty holiday meals. Plus, with exposed beams and a friendly breakfast bar, it's also a pleasant extra place to hang out. Next door, there's even a games room with a pool table, to let off some competitive steam. On to the bedrooms; this collection of romantically decorated, spacious rooms are just what you'd imagine from a Victorian property. The master room has an elegant king-size bed and an en-suite bathroom. A family room includes a king-size bed and a single, perfect if there's a growing family in your party. And three further bedrooms offer arrangements of delightful singles, so you can take your pick, or switch around as the mood takes you. Behind the property, there's even a secluded garden, with a lush lawn and pretty seating areas, to continue your holiday story.

  • Four bedrooms: king size bedroom, king size bedroom and a single bed, one bedroom with three single beds and a twin bedroom.
  • Two en-suite bathrooms, one family bathroom
  • No pets
  • Internet access
  • Off road parking for up to 4 cars
  • Large open fire (first basket of logs and coal provided)
  • Dining and seating for 10 people

If the house itself has got you and your friends in a romantic state of mind, the surrounding countryside will tip you over the edge. Your adventure begins in the village of Holloway, straight out of your front gate. With idyllic walks and a popular coffee shop just next door, it's the ideal place to set off on your Peak adventures. A 4.5-mile journey brings you to the outset of the Peak District National Park, in which you'll find hills to ramble, ways to cycle, and even caves to discover.

Fabulous house in a really great location with lots of walking from the door (not that we managed much with the tail end of Storm Dennis!). Lots of space, house warm, bed comfy, great butcher next door.

A very spacious, well-equipped holiday home in a beautiful location. The owners are also very responsive. When we had a problem with the wi-fi, they responded within a few minutes. And when we complained about the mattress in one of the bedrooms, the owner turned up with a brand new Simba one a couple of hours later. Amazing!
