A historic house along a tree-lined drive, surrounded by fields and moorland, that is an elegant space for family gatherings.

Sleeping a party of 18 across nine bedrooms, this unusual and beautiful house is spread over four floors with plenty of space for a large group. Approached down a tree-lined drive, the house is surrounded by woodland and rolling fields, and the River South Esk winds close by. Ideal for groups who enjoy outdoor pursuits, or those who simply wish to admire the stunning views from the luxury of the house, the property is a lovely bolthole for all ages. Its games room complete with table tennis and fuse ball will definitely keep young and old entertained should there be a rainy day.

Clean-lined elegance abounds inside this unique property. Maintaining a traditional country house style with its classic wooden furniture and richly patterned soft furnishings, the rooms throughout are large and bright. A grand welcome waits you in the impressive stone-flagged hallway with two Corinthian pillars in the centre. Stow away your outdoor gear in the handy boot room and light the fires in the oval drawing room and TV room for a cosy evening. Settle into the sofas with a glass of wine and a book, while younger guests can make the TV room their space. When it’s time for dinner, the kitchen and larder are on the lower ground floor. A rustic table in the centre is lovely for preparation and keeping the conversation flowing, while food cooks in the four-oven Aga. Special occasions are best celebrated with a meal in the ground-floor dining room, gathered round the table in front of the open fire. If the party atmosphere is going strong, play a few games of table tennis or fuse ball, or put music on and dance in the spacious entrance hall. All the bedrooms have a quirky, fresh charm about them. At the end of the night, snuggle under a colourful bedspread and enjoy a restful sleep. Wake to rural views, and dine together in the breakfast room, before heading out for a walk among the lawns.

Wonderful place. Full of character and interest. Doesn't just accommodate the number specified but provides so much space and varieties of place to socialise in different ways. And so well located to enjoy and explore the lovely Angus countryside and coast. With so many places to stay on holiday wouldn't normally say this; but we would go back to tRead morehis one. Hide
