Surrounded by a walled garden and trees, play garden games on the extensive lawns or spread out your blankets for an alfresco picnic or a spot of sunbathing. If the Scottish weather turns inclement, light the open fie in the comfortable drawing room for an evening of conversation or charades. Host dinner parties in the elegant dining room, seating up to 14 guests. Enjoy fine food and local whisky as you relax late into the night. Explore the estate grounds for a range of walks for all ages and abilities. Stroll through the rhododendron woods to spot the otters swimming in the Fechlin River, walk around the tranquil Loch Kemp or for a longer hike, follow the track to the spectacular Falls of Foyers. No visit to Inverness is compete without a search for the legendary Loch Ness Monster. The estate borders the edge of the loch and can be reached on foot from your holiday home.

 

 

Elegantly decorated and furnished to create comfortable accommodation throughout, your rural retreat has a warm and cosy feel creating an environment for relaxation. Gather together in the inviting drawing room, a generous space decorated in soothing tones with co-ordinating soft furnishings in rich colours and plump sofas and comfortable chairs. Light the open fire and play parlour games as the logs crackle or enjoy a wee dram in the light of the glowing embers before retiring for the night. Enjoy the views across the estate from the garden room, a lovely spot to curl up with the latest bestseller or sit and watch the wildlife in the garden. Share leisurely meals around the gleaming dining table and relax in the pleasure of each other’s company. Your spacious kitchen is fully equipped to cater for large parties with two fridges for the storage of your provisions and two dishwashers to make your stay more relaxing and there’s a handy utility room and downstairs WC for your convenience. Ascending the stairs to the first floor you will find the house’s nine well-appointed bedrooms. There is plenty of space for all with two super king rooms (both with an ensuite featuring a shower over a bath), one king size room, three double bedrooms (one of which benefits from an ensuite with bath), two twin rooms and one single.  There is also a further cosy sitting room for a quiet moment. Outside the property is an enclosed garden surrounded by towering trees where you can enjoy a game of football or rounders on the lawn and enjoy an al fresco drink as the sun sinks behind the mountains. Fire up the BBQ for a sociable evening meal or walk to the log cabin on the edge of the loch for a waterside picnic. The property offers many opportunities for local fishing, with the River Fechlin accessible down 500 metres of country road, Loch Kemp on the vast estate itself and Loch Ness just 3 miles away. Wander the 1.5 miles up to Loch Kemp and make use of the stone BBQ by the fishing hut, before heading out on a boat to fish for brown trout. If you prefer to shoot, the groundskeepers and expert stalkers can guide you to shooting trips in the local area.

 

A varied day out for all the family is a trip to the local Fort Augustus, which sits at the bottom of Loch Ness and along the Caledonian Canal. Visit the Caledonian Canal Heritage Centre or explore Highland culture at The Clansman Centre. Take in wonderful views of the loch and enjoy plenty of restaurants and bars. Here you'll also find the closest golf course to the property, just 10.5 miles away.

 

A further interesting day out can be enjoyed at the local city of Inverness, just 25 miles from the estate. The city boasts plenty of culture, including a castle and cathedral. Wander over the Victorian suspension bridges of the tree-lined Ness Islands (22.5 miles), which provide an easy day outdoors, before selecting one of Inverness' independent eateries or watching a film or play at the local Eden Court arts centre (23 miles).

This house and location was perfect for a big family Christmas. The assortment of bedrooms and bathrooms worked really well as did the large dining room and super cosy lounge.
