A stunning country haven parcelled between the North York Moors and the dramatic North Sea, providing a divine retreat for big families and groups of friends.

This charming and spacious stone-built cottage is nestled on the edge of historic Whitby and offers a relaxing retreat for a group of friends or family on the stunning North Yorkshire coast. A fabulous combination of rustic charm and modern comforts make this four-bedroom property the ideal getaway for up to eight people.

On entering the stone-flagged hallway of the cottage, turn left and you are welcomed by the spacious lounge with its solid stone walls, exposed beams and cosy wood burner. Lie back on one of the soft leather sofas and feel the stresses and strains of life melt away as you investigate the welcome hamper. The large window allows plenty of natural light in, making it a lovely spot to put your feet up with a coffee and the papers in the morning. In the evening, draw the curtains and cosy up together in front of a film. The double-sided wood burner also warms the kitchen/diner. The smart kitchen blends into this characterful property perfectly, with its muted tones and tiled walls complementing the exposed beams. Warm the wine and enjoy some family time together as the logs on the wood burner crackle and hiss soothingly in the background. Upstairs on the first floor, the king-size bedroom is decorated in soft seaside blues and creams. Enjoy a restful start to the day listening to the trees rustling outside before heading into the fresh, bright en-suite for a hot shower. There is also a double bedroom on this floor and the bathroom, complete with a luxurious roll-top bath. Up on the top floor are the two twin rooms, with sloping ceilings and skylight windows, one of which has table football and a TV with DVD, making it perfect for younger children. Outside, the garden is on different levels, with an enclosed patio directly outside the cottage as well as a second patio at the other end of the garden.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

the Cottage is up there with some of the best we have stayed in. Beautifully furnished with lovely comfortable beds. It is well equipped and immaculately clean.

The cottage was clean and fairly comfortable, the beds were good. However, I didn't feel comfortable with either the location or the access. It's in a remote spot, and access is up a very steep narrow hill (struggled to drive up it in first gear with a car full) then past a farm and down an even narrower lane, then onto a short unmade track to the Read morecottage. Gorgeously renovated cottage to 'magazine ' standards. Very well equipped; they seem to have thought of almost everything. Great location for walkers, but we had to go everywhere in the car which is a bit awkward due to narrow lanes etc.

This cottage in a rural setting has everything you need. Improvements in the garden area are ongoing and will only enhance what is a delightful fully equipped cottage.

Beautiful cottage, tastefully decorated with ample space and all the mod cons. Great outside space although be careful with young ones in the outside step area. Brilliant location to Whitby and a nice sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of the seaside. Owner incredibly helpful and accommodating. We loved it and will be back!

We had a fabulous family holiday at Cragg Cottage. A great deal of thought put in to make it a home from home. A lovely peaceful and relaxing location but near also to lots of places to see and go to for activities or lazy beach days .
