Speaking of views, 6 miles away is Robin Hood's Bay. An old smugglers village with sweeping vistas across the sea, it is absolutely worth a trip, especially with a picnic basket in tow. For a special twist, head off at night and visit Dalby Forest, 16 miles away. One of the best dark sky discovery sites in the country, the Milky Way can be seen by the naked eye.
