Ideal for those looking for a family-friendly holiday in the Cotswolds, this superb wisteria-clad Georgian manor house set in eight acres of beautiful gardens and woodland, offers the perfect country retreat. Summer living comes easy at this property with a delightful dining terrace overlooking a heated pool, the perfect spot for balmy evenings chatting long into the night with friends and family. In cooler months, come together for pre-dinner drinks in front of the roaring open fire of the elegant high-ceilinged sitting room, going on to entertain your guests in the formal dining room, dating back to the 17th century.

A well-equipped open-plan kitchen with warming Aga is just the place to rustle up a quick meal or prepare a sumptuous dinner for the whole party. On cold winter afternoons, butter some toasted crumpets and take them through to the snug where you can relax with that book you have been meaning to read, stretching out beside the flickering wood burner and wondering to yourself if you could stay here forever.

When it’s time to retire, the blissful bedrooms provide the perfect space. Six upstairs and one downstairs delight with floor-to-ceiling sash windows and sumptuous furnishings, one with a grand piano if you feel like tinkling the ivories when you wake. For larger parties, you also have the opportunity of two extra double rooms as well as eight additional beds that can be added to various bedrooms, excellent if you have little ones with you.

On warm days, enjoy a late breakfast on the terrace before taking a leisurely dip in the heated swimming pool.  For those who want a little alone time, an evening stroll along the avenue of lime trees or around the manicured lawns, bordered with colourful blooms and surrounding a central fountain is simply blissful. Finish the night with a favourite old movie in the home cinema, popcorn optional.

SLEEPS 14: (26 with additional bedrooms/beds): Seven bedrooms. 1 en-suite super king-size, 1 en-suite super king-size or twin, 1 super king-size or twin, 1 en-suite king-size, 2 king-size. 1 king-size ground floor bedroom with shower room/cloakroom facility adjacent.

ADDITIONAL BEDS: 2 double bedrooms can also be offered, one using the snug/playroom with cloakroom facility close by, and the pool house which can be used as a double. The pool house is an annexe directly outside the kitchen and has a walk-in shower room and adjacent separate cloakroom facility. Note: this is the cinema room when not used as a bedroom. There are also 8 extra single beds that can be allocated to various bedrooms.

LOCAL AREA: Set on the outskirts of Dursley Village in Gloucestershire, this enchanting property not only enjoys far-reaching views across the Uley Valley, but it also offers direct access to the Cotswold Way directly outside the gates. Enjoying a position on the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, famous for its rolling hills and hidden valleys, you are also within easy reach of a wide selection of picturesque villages and towns built with the famous golden-coloured Cotswold stone. The property is within walking distance of a wide variety of shops, restaurants and pubs, as well as a supermarket for stocking up on essential provisions for that celebration dinner. One of this area’s most famous attractions is Highgrove (12 miles), home to the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall, though the 11th-century Berkeley Castle (6 miles) and The National Trust’s magnificent Dyrham Park (25 miles) are also well worth a visit.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY: As well as the pool and games room at the house, there’s lots to do in the vicinity for sporty types. The walking and cycling opportunities are endless and the area is known for its country pursuits, including clay pigeon shooting. Extreme sports are nearby as well as kart racing, laser and the Cotswold Water Park (20 miles) if you fancy a little aqua activity in the summer season. There is also golf, horse riding and even gliding if you want to see the county from a different perspective. Pop to the polo at Beaufort (10 miles) and Cirencester (20 miles) or for a little culture, you can book a ballet or opera at Bristol Hippodrome (30 miles). Little ones will love Bristol Zoo (25 miles) and Cattle Country Adventure Park (5 miles).
