The apartments of Château Normand are located in a gorgeous castle, dating back to the seventeenth century and, according to the archives, it was built in 1664 for the Turgot family. Its central body was destroyed around 1860 but the castle’s imposing towers remain.

One stunning tower houses four apartments, offering guests the chance to experience the unique style and historical architecture of the castle. Each apartment contains three twin bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. The four apartments in this tower sleep 24 guests in bedrooms and an additional 6 guests can be accommodated on double sofa beds in three of the living rooms. All the apartments can be connected, should you want exclusive use of the castle.

Within another tower is a stunning duplex apartment for 12, with six bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen and a spacious and stylish lounge. The walls are adorned with urban art, and edgy design elements make it a unique choice for guests who like something a little different. The kitchen is well-equipped and perfect for catering for cosy evenings in.

Accommodating a grand total of 36 guests (plus 6 on sofa beds) the castle is a wonderful fairytale setting for a large group holiday with family and friends.

The building was built with Caen limestone and the interiors are contemporary and stylish, yet compliment many original features.

Set amongst stunning countryside, only five minutes from the motorway A88 (Caen-Argentan), in Lower Normandy you can enjoy complete peace and quiet, yet you’ll be able to travel easily should you wish to go exploring. Ideally located to discover Calvados and the Orne.

SLEEPS 36: First tower sleeps 24: 4 individual apartments, each with 3 twin rooms. Should you wish to rent all 4 together, they can be connected. Second tower: 1 duplex apartment sleeps 12 guests across 6 twin bedrooms.

ADDITIONAL BEDS: 3 living rooms in the first tower have double sofa beds, offering space for 6 additional guests. This brings the total capacity to 42.

COOK + DINE: Each apartment has their own kitchen to suit a self-catering break, complete with a microwave, fridge with small freezer, a gas cooker, coffee machine, kettle and toaster. 3 of the apartments have a dishwasher and 2 have a washing machine and dryer.

BATHE: Each apartment in the first tower has a bathroom. The duplex in the second tower has 2 bathrooms.

LOCAL AREA: Sat in the countryside, a short driving distance from the National Road Network in Lower Normandy, the Château Normand is a luxury base for exploring the Calvados and the Orne. The city of Caen is very pretty, and a hub for shopping, evening entertainment, quality restaurants and more. The Brittany Coast is a few miles north of Caen, with seaside towns like Ouistreham, St Malo, Luc-sur-Mer, and Cabourg.

ACTIVITIES NEARBY: Perhaps the most famous visitor attraction in the Calvados is the original Bayeux Tapestry, an ancient eleventh century embroidery that depicts the Norman defeat of the Saxon army at Hastings in 1066. Other attractions including Swiss Normandy and the Pays d'Auge are only 10 minutes away. William the Conqueror's Château de Falaise and the Formeo Aquatic Centre in Falaise make a pleasant daytrip. The gardens of the Château de Vendeuvre are inspired by the renaissance gardens of Italy, particularly reflected in the landscaped water features that abound throughout the estate. Many D-Day landing beaches are along the coast with museums, cenotaphs and memorials. There are plenty of facilities for outdoor activities in the area like golf courses, horse riding, swimming, cycling and trekking.
