A 15th century property located in the Wye Valley and situated on the English/Welsh border. Lovingly furnished in keeping with its original charm and easily accessible to a number of attractions

This huge 15th century home in the Shropshire hills will help you fulfil all your lord-of-the-manor fantasies, with large rooms, great views and bags of charm. Sleeping 16 over eight bedrooms, there is space for even the largest of family gatherings or for groups of friends wanting a relaxed holiday in this beautiful part of the world. There are long walks and bike rides to be had aplenty, with Offa's Dyke running past the front door and numerous other footpaths and riverside walks from the house. It's just right for holidays, and parties, to remember.

Step inside and you'll be struck by how thoughtfully decorated the house is. The owners have really made the most of the original features, with splashes of colour complementing the oak beamed ceilings, and carefully chosen antiques on display. There are two lounges. The first has a wood burner and a choice of comfortable seating for long afternoons drinking tea and chatting. On the first floor is an elegant drawing room with lovely views, leading out to a decking area. There is a dining room with a large table, with room for everyone to gather for a celebratory feast. The farmhouse-style kitchen is very well-equipped for group cooking, with lots of units and a large island to give you extra prep space. It also has an Aga range cooker and two fridges. There is a separate laundry room. The bedrooms are spread over four floors, so everyone can find their perfect spot, plus there is a beautiful bathroom with an indulgent roll-top bath, and two shower rooms. In the evening, head to the aquarium recreation room. This is a short stroll from the main house and set up as the perfect place to either chill out or party the night away. It has a Bose sound system, drinks cabinet, full-sized pool table, quirky lighting and a wood burner. The room is light and bright with a fabulous aquarium frieze. In the garden, you'll find even more to enjoy, with two terraces complete with furniture and an array of mature plants and shrubs.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

SLEEPS 8 - 16:  Eight bedrooms in total.  On the ground floor there is 1 king-size bedroom with wood burner, 1 single bedroom and 1 double four-poster bedroom with wood burner.  On the lower ground floor there is 1 twin bedroom.  On the first floor there is 1 large king-size bedroom with a four poster bed and wood burner, 1 kings-size bedroom with a wood burner and 1 double bedroom. There is also 1 loft triple bedroom, with 1 double bed and 2 single beds.

RELAXING:  Two great spaces to relax in:  an upper drawing room, with wood burning stove, Sky TV and DVD, leads to a garden terrace. A selection of books and and DVD's are available for you to enjoy. Ground floor sitting room with wood burning stove, Bose sound system, Wi-Fi (signal can be patchy in parts of the house). Two baskets of logs are provided and more wood is readily available from local shops.

THE AQUARIUM RECREATION ROOM:  *New*  Just a stroll away from the main house, cool and funky, light and spacious, this room has been lovingly created with every thought directed to chilling out and slowing down.  With a full-sized pool table, Bose speakers and dock for your personal choice in music, drinks cabinet (drinks not included!), quirky lighting, comfy sofa and stunning aquarium frieze all around the walls - you'll need to be dragged away for Sunday lunch.  The room is fully insulated, making the most of the roaring wood-burner whenever you need it.

DINING:  Dining room with dining table and chairs with seating for up to 16, leading out onto a pretty garden terrace, with additional outdoor furniture.

COOKING:  Farmhouse kitchen with 3 oven electric Aga, separate electric cooker, two fridges, each with a freezer compartment, dishwasher, ample crockery, cutlery and glasses etc.

KEEPING CLEAN:  Three beautiful bathrooms, each fitted to a high standard with towels included.  One ground floor wet room style shower room, with basin and loo.  Plus two first floor bathrooms, one with bath, wet room style shower, basin and loo, a second with shower, basin and loo.

PETS: Two dogs are welcome at this property.

HOLIDAY PREPARATION: We would advise to contact local amenities directly, such as shops, restaurants, pubs and attractions, to confirm the latest opening times and availability.

As well as enjoying the numerous walking trails, you'll love simply setting out to explore the local towns and villages of the Wye Valley. Hay-on-Wye is 17 miles away, known for its literary scene, great shopping and restaurants. The cathedral city of Hereford is 26 miles away and is a great place to while away an afternoon. Ludlow, with its unique food scene, is 22 miles away.

The house was absolutely beautiful and suited us perfectly for our hen weekend. The rooms were all spacious and well decorated with very comfortable beds. Rarely is it possible to wake early in the morning and have complete quiet. At Burfa you can. A beautiful and homely house which accommodates a large group very comfortably.

Lovely weekend away - 15 adults - beautiful setting. Plenty of room for everyone. The house is very old with lots of lovely features. We were lucky and had lovely weather to take advantage of the gardens and walks nearby.
