LOCAL AREA: Situated within 1km of Bonnieux in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d'Azur region, this large holiday home enjoys a great location in the South of France. One of the most picturesque Luberon hilltop villages, the steeply sloping streets of Bonnieux are lined with traditional restaurants and cafes. Amidst the 19th-century houses, ancient stone walls and medieval fortifications, are narrow alleys, hidden staircases and numerous old fountains, which give the village a timeless charm.
There’s a market every Friday morning where you can pick up local crafts and produce, and a unique bread museum which is worth a visit, the Musee de la Boulangerie. It’s also well worth climbing the 86 stone steps to the Vieille Eglise (Old Church), a Romanesque monument built between the 12th and 15th centuries, with awe-inspiring views of the Monts de Vaucluse and Mont Ventoux.
The villa is also situated nearby to several other notable Provencal villages; Lacoste (3km) which is famous for its Chateau du Marquis de Sade, Gordes (16km) which is one of the most beautiful hilltop villages in France, and Roussillon (11.5km) which is renowned for its magnificent red cliffs and ochre quarries.
