This spacious farmhouse sympathetically combines traditional features with contemporary touches creating the perfect retreat for those looking to immerse themselves in the surrounding countryside.

This attractive stone farmhouse in the hamlet of Horsehouse in the Yorkshire Dales stands majestically in its rural setting, offering guests country walks, tranquillity and a wealth of British wildlife to enjoy. Tucked away down an uneven, private farm track, the journey is well worth it as you'll find a traditional farmhouse, perfect for escaping your hectic pace of life and adopting a slower, more relaxing one. Keen ramblers will find plenty of walks from the doorstep, but for those wanting to go further afield, the surrounding area offers a variety of historic landmarks and market towns/villages with independent shops, pubs and tea rooms.

The lounge is at the heart of this traditional home, where guests can gather around the open fire and appreciate the period features such as the exposed beams and stone fireplace, or dive into a book or board game. For those looking for something quieter, there is also a snug with its own wood burner and TV for DVD use only - there should be something for everyone in the DVD collection. There are gorgeous Yorkshire flagstone floors in every room, but fear not as there is underfloor heating and a NEST heating system to keep the rest of the house warm. As you would expect from a farmhouse of this size, the kitchen is delightful; white-washed walls make it feel light and airy, whilst all the mod-cons bring it into the 21st century. A stable door allows you to admire the breathtaking views whilst you prepare food on the oak worktops or the quaint pastry table in the centre of the room. Across the yard, there is a barn containing the washing machine and dryer. The dining room is also spacious making it the ideal setting for sociable mealtimes. Ascending the original, stone staircase, you will arrive at the four bedrooms, which are all simply furnished allowing the traditional furniture to take centre stage. There is a large, king-size master bedroom with en-suite, which includes a luxurious roll-top bath. There is one double bedroom and two twin bedrooms, one of which has a modern en-suite, with the other bedrooms sharing the lovely family bathroom. All of the bedrooms have charming exposed floorboards and amazing views.

Outside, there is plenty of space to enjoy as the house occupies a vast plot. There is also a sheltered area by the kitchen door with patio furniture for al fresco dining against a picturesque backdrop. If the kids still need tiring out at the end of a busy day, send them to the games barn which houses a pool table, a table-tennis table and a ‘Ring the Bull' game. There are barns available for bike storage if required.

Dogs fees are charged per dog at £20.00 for up to 7 nights, £40.00 for up to 14 nights and an additional £20.00 for every week or part week thereafter.

Great bolt hole. We were extremely lucky with fantastic weather which I know makes a difference (especially in February!) but we had a great family weekend. It is rural and a long track off the road, but we all absolutely loved it. Well equipped, as per the pictures, loved the chandelier in the barn over the table tennis table which quirky. Awful access road. No microwave. No TV. Two cracked toilet seats. Local roads narrow and twisty.Kitchen very good apart from no microwave.Beds very comfortable. Local pub very limited [email protected]@Hi Brian, Thank you for taking the time to complete a review. As mentioned on the Gorgeous Cottages website, Arundel Grange is set at the enRead mored of a private track. It is a working farm track that can be uneven at times. The final approach to the house is up a short steep incline. Both tracks are suitable for normal vehicles if approached with due care. There is a TV but the owners have purposefully not hooked it up to terrestrial TV but to use instead with the extensive DVD library the owners are mindful of keeping the cottage a haven from too much tech and for the perfect escape to the country. The oak toilet seats are being replaced next week thank you for pointing this out. We would love to welcome you back to Yorkshire for another stay in the not too distant future. Take care Maureen. Fantastic property in a beautiful location. We had a great week at Arundel Grange, with walks right on our doorstep and beautiful scenery all around. We would definitely come back to the Yorkshire Dales.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning natural location. Swallows, Swifts, Hares, a Barn Owl and a Heron all seen within a hundred yards of the house. Excellent pubs throughout the area and fascinating local history with plenty of Castles and other ruins to engage children and adults alike.

We havent rated the immediate local amenities because apart from a pub there werent any - but we knew that when we booked (so it would be unfair to score) and we travelled well prepared...... we loved the comparative isolation! However it was easy, via a short and scenic drive, to get to Middleham, Leyburn or the farm shop. It has a comfortable ambiance and spacious accommodation. Our London-based adult offspring soaked up the clean air and night silence. We liked the subtle distancing from the twenty-first century (the WiFi in the den will keep those having withdrawal symptoms happy); the beautiful views from the house across the valley; stunning walks in the area and abundant and varied wildlife.
