Experience the life once lived by 19th-century nobility with a stay at this luxurious country manor. In the heart of the glorious Brecon Beacons National Park, this lakeside property is the ideal spot for an extended family reunion, sleeping 12 and offering activities for visitors of all ages.

Way off the beaten track, this secluded property is surrounded by beautiful gardens and rolling hills and certainly ensures absolute privacy. A huge farmhouse kitchen with traditional four-oven Aga is the ideal hub of the house, with an informal dining table perfect for grabbing some breakfast and planning the day ahead. For a celebratory dinner, make use of the wonderful formal dining room before retiring to one of three lounge areas. Enjoy a good book in front of a flickering open fire in the drawing room, a lively family boardgame in the snug or a blockbuster DVD in the conservatory. Adults will rejoice in 5 minutes of silence as kids rush off to play in the private games room, which features table tennis, a pool table, an assortment of toys for younger kids and another TV and DVD. The property's six bedrooms are decorated throughout in a traditional British style, with antique beds and classic wallpaper prints. Two king-size and one twin bedroom can be found in the charming eaves of the house, with exposed beams adding an extra touch of charisma. Thanks to the property's isolated countryside location, you won't be surprised to find remarkable views from the bedroom windows and an abundance of private garden space. A game of tennis is vital in the summer months, and the outdoor dining and lounge furniture create the perfect space for a BBQ party.

SLEEPS 14: 7 bedrooms, two king-size attic bedrooms, one double and a twin attic bedroom. First floor king-size bedroom and two first floor twin rooms. Beautiful bedding included in each room.

RELAXING: Three great places to relax which include a large, elegant drawing room with open fire, sofas and armchairs, a snug, with open fire and TV, plus a conservatory room with TV, DVD, Wi-Fi.  In addition, there is a very large games room - perfect for children and teenagers.  Please only stream films in the house and not in the games room.

COOKING & DINING: Large country kitchen with four oven Aga, large fridge, two dishwashers great for larger parties, farmhouse dining table for 12, and a pantry - perfect for caterers.  There is a formal dining room with dining table to seat twelve.

BATHING:  4 bathrooms in total, plus a downstairs cloakroom.  A family bathroom with shower and bath in the attic, three bathrooms on the first floor, including a Jack and Jill bathroom, a family bathroom and a wet room.

PLAYTIME: Tennis court (please bring your own rackets, shoes and balls), large games room with table tennis, pool table, television, toys and games.  

OUTSIDE SPACE: Beautiful grounds with lawns, orchard and terrace, complete with garden furniture and barbecue. Plenty of parking available.  The owners are happy for guests to walk around the estate, but please keep to the footpaths at all times and observe the country code.  This is a working country estate.

PETS: Sorry, no dogs allowed at this beautiful house, without exception.

The Brecon Beacons is heaven for outdoor activity loving families, and this property is mere moments away from the great outdoors. Bustling rivers and brooks run adjacent to the property and make for the perfect kids' adventure spots. Challenge the family to summit the highest peak in South Wales and walk Pen y Fan, just 10 miles away, or travel 6 miles and circle the impressive Talybont Reservoir. Similarly, 6 miles from home, you'll find a dedicated riding school, perfect for exploring the local area on horseback. For a unique night out, wrap up warm and head out into the fields after dark. The Brecon Beacons is a renowned International Dark Sky Reserve and on the clearest nights, you can see constellations, shooting stars and even the Milky Way. The nearby town of Brecon (3.5 miles) offers all you need in amenities and has a host of restaurants and eateries in which to enjoy a meal out.

This was a perfect holiday retreat for us - three generations of a family. We loved the amount of space that allowed us to spread out into smaller groups, but also all come together for family meals, etc. Excellent support from the key-holder.

The house is in a lovely area and is very well equipped for a large number. The garden is beautiful, the tennis court is great and the games room fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay, there is loads to do nearby for families.

I booked the holiday to celebrate my wifes 70th Birthday, plus other birthdays and our Wedding Anniversary. As I wanted to include our daughters and their families, we needed a large property and Abercynrig appeared to meet all our requirements. With hindsight it surpassed these!
