Surrounded by two acres of landscaped mature garden and with views over the Purbeck Hills, this holiday let is ideal for families with young explorers as well as those that prefer to appreciate the countryside from a comfy seat on the terrace. Set in a quiet village called East Holme, you’ll see that you’re in a perfect rural spot, yet still within easy driving distance of bustling towns like Wareham and Wool, both 3.5 miles away. Known as the gateway to Purbeck, Wareham boasts plenty of independent shops, restaurants and pubs as well as a museum, while quieter Wool features historic buildings such as the 14th-century Woolbridge Manor House, the location of Tess’ honeymoon in Tess of the D’Urbervilles.

Inside, stunning slate-tiled floors in the hall and kitchen diner give the property a splendid farmhouse-style feel. As you enter the cottage there’s a cloakroom with WC and pedestal basin, before heading round to the left to the kitchen. There’s everything you need in here for a hearty meal, including an oven, microwave, fridge and a dishwasher – although you might want to wash up at the sink just to take in the pretty views of the trees and shrubs through the window! Enjoy your home-cooked meal in front of the ornamental fireplace at the large wooden dining table that’s perfect for eight. Heading down a couple of steps into the neutrally-decorated lounge, you’ll find plenty of sofas to sink into in front of the wood burner, or throw open the patio doors and gaze out across the grounds. Relax in front of the Smart TV or even play some games on the Wii. Heading up to the first floor, a peaceful king-size bedroom with an en-suite awaits you; take a relaxing soak in the bath after a long day out walking. Kids will love the bunk bedrooms that are accessed via three steps and sleep four comfortably, plus there are plenty of books to choose from for bedtime stories. Further along the landing is the main bathroom with WC and shower over the bath, while another double bedroom is situated at the end of the hall with soft, calming decor that promotes a great night’s sleep.

Outside, there are terraces on both sides of the house; one has patio furniture and a BBQ, making it the perfect evening spot for an al fresco bite to eat. The rest of the garden is ideal for outdoor games thanks to the large lawns, and thrill-seeking children (and adults!) can venture into the woodland and play on the swings and ropes.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £150 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

The property is in a great location and we cannot overstate how fantastic (and huge) the garden is. The gardener does a wonderful job, keeping the grass cut and the borders in order! We loved having so much space to play games and the bbq was a welcome addition. We were delighted to find an excellent (if slightly pricey) Farm Shop a couple of minutRead morees down the road. Hide

The draw of this cottage is primarily the woodside garden which is great for allow young children freedom to play and explore in relative security. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed and more spacious than I anticipated. The location is good, 15-30mins from Studland, Lulworth Cove, Kimmeridge Bay etc. Farm shop just up the roadRead more was useful to supplement our supplies if a little expensive. Slightly dated interior which could do with some investment to improve the comfort in the house. However, the huge garden was great and it was in a lovely location for accessing the beautiful coast.

Lovely homely cottage with massive garden! We were well placed to explore the Portland coast. The gunfire and shell fire from the MOD next door provided entertainment until it went on into the late evening. Some dated features to the property but overall a good stay.
