Find the chocolate box village of Brassington less than 0.5 miles from home, with two welcoming pubs for a pint of something local and a children’s play area to enjoy. Head out and explore the vast Peak District National Park (1 mile), finding unrivalled hiking and cycling routes ready to be explored. Venture to the village of Wetton (9.5 miles) to embark on a wonderful route around Manifold Valley, stopping off at Thor’s Cave to soak up a scene seemingly plucked from a fairy tale. Those after hair-raising adventure should try water sports on the nearby Carsington Water (5 miles) or a trip to Alton Towers Theme Park (15.5 miles), whilst relaxing days out can be enjoyed in historic Bakewell (11 miles) or beautiful Buxton (18 miles).

We had a fabulous time at Whitebeam Cottage. It was perfect for a family gathering. The place was so cosy and warm as we arrived and the rooms were exactly as shown on the site. There are walks from the village and plenty others without too much of a drive. Nearby Carsington Water is lovely. Lovely warm cottage with large American style fridge freezer, plenty of crockery and utensils, could do with more pans! Lots of board games, nice sized bedrooms. Plenty of room for our family getaway of 6 adults and toddler and 3 cars. Tucked away in lovely village with 2 good pubs!

A spacious cottage in a quiet idyllic village. It has so much going for it, but it feels that it needs a little attention in some areas to make it a really stand-out holiday let. Closed- season maintenance should fix some of the niggles and an updated manual would help resolve any problems encountered during the stay. Very comfy cottage in idyllic, friendly village. Lovely large kitchen and cosy sitting room. We enjoyed having the table tennis table and a bit of outdoor space. The location was ideal for exploring the many Derbyshire attractions.

A really good base and for 8 people and dogs the house is definitely big enough! If you are cooking in house you may want to take your own saucepans!

A fantastic space for our family get together. Very comfy beds and great bathrooms. Location is tricky to find in the dark but its a lovely village with two good pubs. Limited outside space but we were there in November so didnt bother us. The downstairs space is brilliant. Comfy lounge and huge dining kitchen. House is nice and roomy and warm. Great location. Loads to do within 30 Minute drive for our 2 year old granddaughter. Parking is very tight with a narrow entrance. Garden is totally enclosed for dogs but so small with no grass, no where for them to go really. Very well equipped house. Olde Gate pub in village has lovely food but was hard to get a Read moretable. Need to book ahead. Hide

The cottage was very spacious, warm, welcoming and immaculately clean. We found it to be well equipped and was perfect for our family get together. The village of Brassington is lovely and is ideally positioned for country walks and days out to the many places of interest. We would definitely love to go back there.

Overall a great location for a multi generation family holiday. Spacious and great to relax in the house. As per other reviews the garden is very small and the drive needs work and requires a good hand brake. Although we weren't affected we were shocked to find signs asking us to keep doors and windows closed after 2100 to prevent disturbing the neRead moreighbours. A lovely clean, well equipped cottage in a lovely village. Shame about the unwelcome feeling from the immediate neighbours. The grounds are not really suitable for a dog and the drive needs so remedial work. The beds are really comfortable and the local pub food and service was lovely and welcoming.

A lovely village and your close to the wonderful heart of the Peak District. Lovely spacious house, recommend the Miners Arms for great pub food for a reasonable price with a chirpy Landlord. Don't be put off by first impressions. The other local, the Old Gate inn is another classic old pub, again great food and beer but more expensive. Would also Read morerecommend the Old Dog pub in Thorpe. Does wicked Pizzas. Everywhere does great Beer/Ales so you wont be dissapointed. Hide
