Those with a love of the outdoors will quickly fall for the Craven District and all its brilliance thanks to the glorious scenery, charming market towns and sleepy villages scattered throughout this captivating blend of outcrops, green hills and rugged moorland. It's a true walker's paradise here but if you're more of a roamer than a rambler, try a stroll around the grounds of nearby Bolton Abbey (10 miles). These gorgeous ruins provide the backdrop to a particularly beautiful part of the Dales and are well worth a visit.

The historic town of Skipton (3 miles) is also close by and offers a host of other attractions including its very own castle. There are lots of options to eat here as well as independent shops making it a great option for a full day out. Other nearby attractions include the Kilnsey Trout Farm and horse riding at Coniston, Malham.

Settle is set 18.5 miles away and is a well-loved and bustling market town home to lots of lovely cafes, restaurants, pubs and shops. There's also a thriving market held in the town every Tuesday - the perfect place to pick up everything from flowers to dinner that night. If real ale is your thing, there are three fantastic real ale pubs set around the marketplace, so you can choose which one to try each evening!

Just outside of town, you can hop on the Settle to Carlisle railway, one of the most scenic routes in the UK which will take you over the well-known Ribblehead Viaduct. Beyond Settle, you have the exquisite delights of the Yorkshire Dales. And, as you would expect, the surrounding countryside here is simply magnificent – perfect if you want to strike out from the cottage in your walking boots or on your bicycle.

Keighley is a must for any railway enthusiast too – located just 8 miles away, it is the terminus of the Keighley and Worth Valley heritage steam railway. Running between the village itself to Oxenhope across the beautiful Worth Valley, the line is most famous for its pivotal role in the beloved 1970s classic The Railway Children and, more recently, Sherlock. The Timothy Taylor Brewery is also located nearby in Knowle Spring, 8 miles.

Beautiful appointed property. Fabulous views. Very comfortable with lovely art pieces. Was worried about the access but managed up and down in Audi TT even after two days of torrential downpours.

Wonderful location with amazing views, we walked over the moor to Skipton and back, then strolled down to the local village pub for a well earned beer. Very comfortable accommodation, tastefully decorated and plenty of room for our party of 6.

Fantastic property, and really well laid-out and prepared. This is about our 50th rental over the years, but it was one of the very best. Highly recommended.
