Property code: IC169

Bright, light-filled detached property enjoying a fantastic elevated location overlooking Steephill Cove on the Isle of Wight’s south coast and offering contemporary-style accommodation for eight guests.

Ideal for two small families wanting a seaside holiday in the glorious Isle of Wight, this unique property perfectly sleeps eight in two double rooms and two singles – comfortably hosting four adults and four kids. The ‘upside-down' nature of the house ensures glorious views from the first-floor lounge and a suntrap balcony for evening drinks.

On arrival, you'll find a contemporary property surrounded by lawn, an excellent spot for young ones to play. Head straight upstairs on entrance, where the lounge area and kitchen can both be found on the first floor. The comfy living room offers plenty of space for relaxing on the sofas and a stunning sea view reaches right out across the Channel. Opposite, you'll find an open-plan kitchen and dining space, where a generous dining table provides space to entertain in close proximity to the kitchen. Feed younger children with ease without having to leave the kitchen, or head onto the wonderous balcony and dine alfresco. This first floor offers one double bedroom with large windows and a sea view that you'll dream of waking up too, whilst the further double and two cosy singles can be found on the ground floor.

Whilst relaxing in your garden, be sure to keep an eye out for the Isle of Wight's resident wildlife, and don't be surprised to see an owl or red squirrel during your stay! When it's time to go to the beach, don't forget your buckets and spades, as you can access Steephill Cove on foot (400 metres). It is one of the Isle of Wight's best-kept secrets, a beachside spot reminiscent of innocent days gone by. You won't find an arcade game or greasy burger here, but exciting rockpools, idyllic sandy beaches and freshly caught fish. Check out the seasonal crab shed on the seafront and watch as fishermen haul their daily catch onto shore. Whilst heading towards the nearby town of Ventnor, you must stop off at the popular botanic garden (0.5 miles), before continuing onto the bustling seaside resort just 1.5 miles away. Here you'll find your classic seaside fix, with an arcade-filled pier and unique boutique shops, before heading back to the tranquillity of Steephill Cove for a spot of sunbathing. For another exciting day out, head deep into the Isle of Wight Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and explore the rugged cliffs at Woody Bay (1.5 miles).

Truly sensational views over the sea -restful and tranquil. The property is very well equipped, spotlessly clean and comfortable. The location is excellent for SE IOW with easy access to other parts. A lovely family friendly home from home. The house has been updated since the pictures online and it was very comfortable with plenty of space for a Family of all ages. The views are fabulous and access to local facilities straightforward. In summer it would have been disappointing not to have a simpler access to the beach from the garden.

Western Lines is in a splendid position and is a comfortable, warm place to spend time. The views are lovely and it is glorious to spend time sitting out on the balcony. The parking area is quite difficult though, being on a slope, and the drive entrance is narrow. It is quite a challenge to turn a larger car in the area provided.

This was our first trip away since the pandemic and we were a little nervous holidaying with two Vulnerable Adults. We need not have worried, the cottage was beautifully clean and we immediately relaxed into a very enjoyable stay. A big thank you to Cyndy who keeps the cottage pristine. The views are amazing from this property, fully recommend!

Western Lines is in a truly beautiful setting and brilliantly located for Steephill Cove access. The house is comfortable and is a great base for exploring the surrounding area. We had a great week. The house is well-equipped, though the showers do need upgrading, especially the upstairs (en-suite) one.

House is in an fabulous position, with excellent views down to bay below and out to sea, Trees need triming back to restore views. Private path straight down to sea needs repair due to erosion. We had a fox sleeping on the lawn one morning, which illustrates the privacy of the grounds. Lovely cliff walks to Ventnor and Steephill Cove.

Overall the experience was disappointing, the property is very neglected and requires refurbishment and the garden is in urgent need of tree surgery. Balconies were grubby and needed jet washing. Having to hire towels was an irritation and should be included in the price.
