Step inside to find a welcoming hallway, along with a utility room, a stylish shower room and two of the four bedrooms – both of which are decorated in tasteful neutral colours with a few jaunty nods to the coastal location. Up on the first floor the superb living area, with a large, hi-spec kitchen, offers the perfect space for socialising. Relax on one of the comfy sofas where you can gaze at the sparkling water below or throw wide the balcony doors on warmer days. The adjacent dining room with its lounge area is perfect for families needing a bit of space. On the top floor, the light and airy master bedroom is a dream, with a large Juliet balcony window and a smart en-suite shower room. Next door the fourth bedroom has an en-suite bathroom perfect for a hot soak at the end of the day. The lovely sands of Instow are just a short ferry ride across the estuary and the huge swathe of Westward Ho! (3 miles) is a few minutes’ drive in the car. Younger visitors will enjoy the soft sand and rock pools, and older children can try their hand at surfing. Enjoy a bracing family walk along the glorious South West Coast Path, or head up to Kipling Tors, a National Trust site on the edge of Appledore, which offers spectacular views of the coast. Take to the water on a fishing trip from nearby Bideford (3.5 miles), or experience a day trip to Lundy Island to see the island’s famous puffin colony. For a day of family fun for all ages, The Big Sheep (4 miles) has it in spades, with rollercoasters, tractor rides and train rides, as well as mountain boarding, high rope climbing and even an exciting water-based assault course.

The property was spotless and was equipped with everything you could possibly need for a holiday. Beautiful views across the estuary, so relaxing sitting on the balcony watching the tide come in and out.

This was our second visit to Appledore and our first stay at Waterhayes. The house was beautiful with amazing views of the Estuary. The kitchen was well equipped and the sofas well placed. Waterhayes is a fabulous property in a wonderful location with stunning views. This house is in a lovely quiet position in a beautiful seaside town. The house itself is amazing with great views and has everything you need for a home from home. We would definitely recommend staying here and would love to do do again in the future.

A lovely spacious modern house which is in a good location within Appledore and has wonderful views. Extremely well equipped and the added bonus of off road parking for up to 4 cars.

Superb property for 3 generations, the ground floor bedrooms for two children and their parents, top floor for other adults, nicely separated. Great location and lovely views. The open plan living areas can be separated if needed.

Beautiful cottage in a perfect location with stunning views! Private, set back and all our requests met perfectly. The owners are extremely accommodating. Even my sons Harry Potter Doll that we left begind was safely returned to us in the post! Would definitely recommend!

A superb property, really top notch. So spacious and enjoyable to spend time in. The highlights are really the two reception rooms which have big French doors which you can throw open and enjoy the lovely views across the estuary. Only slight downside is the garden and outside dining area which is at the back of the house and very overlooked withouRead moret any landscaping or planting to screen it.
